Experimental Investigation Into Unsteady Effects on Film Cooling
The benefits of different film cooling geometries are typically assessed in terms of their time averaged performance. It is known that the mixing between the coolant film and the main turbine passage flow is an unsteady process. The current study investigates the forms of unsteadiness which occur in engine-representative film cooling flows, and how ...

A simulation of film cooling in the leading edge region of a turbine blade (trench effect on film effectiveness from cylinder in crossflow) [PDF]
Film cooling is one of the cooling system techniques applied to the turbine blade. Gas turbine use film cooling technique to protect turbine blade from expose directly to a hot gas to avoid the blade from defect.

Curvature Effects on Discrete-Hole Film Cooling [PDF]
A numerical study has been conducted to investigate the effects of surface curvature on cooling effectiveness using three-dimensional film cooling geometries that included the mainflow, injection hole, and supply plenum regions. Three surfaces were considered in this study, namely, convex, concave, and flat surfaces.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Near-Field Simulations of Film Cooling with a Modified DES Model
Modeling the heat transfer characteristics of highly turbulent flow in gas turbine film cooling is important for providing better insights and engineering solutions to the film cooling problem. This study proposes a modified detached eddy simulation (DES)

Effect of spherical blockage configurations on film cooling
With increasing inlet temperature of gas turbines, turbine blades need to be effectively protected by using cooling technologies. However, the deposition from the fuel impurities and dust particles in the air is often found inside film holes, which results in partial hole blockage.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
