Flexibility and Dynamicity Enhances and Controls Supramolecular Self‐Assembly of Zinc(II) Metallogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc(II) coordination complexes with tunable aryloxy‐imine ligands exhibit controllable supramolecular self‐assembly into hierarchical fibrous structures. Coordination‐driven stacking, not π–π interactions, enables gelation, dynamic assembly/disassembly, and enhanced nanomechanical properties.

Analysis of metal temperature and coolant flow with a thermal-barrier coating on a full-coverage-film-cooled turbine vane [PDF]

open access: yes
The potential benefits of combining full-coverage film cooling with a thermal-barrier coating were investigated analytically for sections on the suction and pressure sides a high-temperature, high-pressure turbine vane.

Photocatalytic Versus Stoichiometric Hydrogen Generation Using Mesoporous Silicon Catalysts: The Complex Role of Sacrificial Reagents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study highlights the importance of accounting for stoichiometric hydrogen produced when utilizing Si photocatalysts. The stoichiometric contribution is sacrificial reagent dependent and decreases with increasing sterics around the catalyst surface.

Explicit phase diagram for a one-dimensional blister model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this article, we consider a simple one-dimensional variational model, describing the delamination of thin films under cooling. We characterize the global minimizers, which correspond to films of three possible types: non delaminated, partially ...

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Direct electrocaloric measurement of 0.9Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.1PbTiO3 films using scanning thermal microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We show that scanning thermal microscopy can measure reversible electrocaloric (EC) effects in <40 μm-thick ceramic films of the relaxor ferroelectric 0.9Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.1PbTiO3, with the substrate present.

Research On Maximizing Critical And Reducing Initial Heat Flux Densities To Eliminate Any Film Boiling And Minimize Distortion During Quenching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the paper the results of testing three types of FUCHS oils: Thermisol QH 120, Thermisol QH 10 and Thermisol QB 46 are discussed. The main attention is paid to critical heat flux densities evaluation because they create a basis for optimizing cooling ...

Validation of Experimental Cooling Performance of Multi-Stage Thin-Film Thermoelectric Devices via Numerical Simulation

open access: yesMicromachines
In-plane thermoelectric thin-film cooling devices are considered a promising solution for thermal management in electronic systems. However, the actual cooling performance is far below that of regular bulk cooling devices, making the design of thin-film ...
