The Development Encapsulated Filtering Blebs

Ophthalmology, 1988
The development of an encapsulated filtering bleb (Tenon's cyst) complicated 56 of 409 consecutive filtering operations (13.7%) performed during a 40-month period after January 1983. Fifteen eyes (27.8% of encapsulated blebs) required surgical revision.

Delayed Filtering Bleb Encapsulation

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1992
ABSTRACT Encapsulated filtering blebs concomitant with increased intraocular pressure (IOP) developed 47 and 6 months, respectively, after surgery in two women, 46 and 60 years old, respectively, who had undergone trabeculectomy operations in one eye. Both blebs were associated with mild anterior uveitis.

Glaucoma-filtering bleb infections

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2003
To present a review of the current literature regarding the management of glaucoma-filtering bleb infections. With the increased use of intraoperative antifibrotic (eg, mitomycin and fluorouracil) as an adjunct to standard trabeculectomy, an increased incidence is seen of late-onset filtering bleb-related infections.

Are There Filtering Blebs After Canaloplasty?

Journal of Glaucoma, 2011
Aim of the study was to assess the development of filtering blebs after canaloplasty.Twenty eyes of 20 consecutive patients receiving canaloplasty were included. All eyes were examined clinically (slit lamp), and by anterior segment optical coherence tomography and high-frequency ultrasound biomicroscopy to detect filtering blebs.

Needle Bleb Revision of Encapsulated Filtering Bleb With Bevacizumab

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2006
Abstract. The utility of needle bleb revision with bevacizumab in a patient with a failing bleb following trabeculectomy is explored. The patient had previously failed needle bleb revision with mitomycin C. After needling and injection of 1 mg of bevacizumab, the bleb was noted to be more diffuse with a decrease in surface neovascularization ...

Revision of dysfunctional filtering blebs by conjunctival advancement with bleb preservation

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2000
To assess the outcome of advancing a conjunctival flap with preservation of the bleb in eyes undergoing filtration bleb revision after trabeculectomy.A retrospective review of cases from a university-based referral practice identified 30 eyes of 30 patients that had undergone bleb revision after trabeculectomy by advancement of a conjunctival flap over

Changes in filtering bleb morphology after bleb-related infection

Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, 2015
To verify, by use of data collected by the Japan Glaucoma Society Survey of Bleb-related Infection (JGSSBI), that bleb morphology changes within 12 months of the development of bleb-related infection.JGSSBI data from 57 eyes of 57 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and normal tension glaucoma who developed a bleb-related infection were analyzed.

Histopathology in a dissecting conjunctival filtering bleb

Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2008
Four years after trabeculectomy, a patient developed unilateral tearing and presented with an ipsilateral conjunctival filtering bleb that had dissected into the cornea. The corneal portion of the bleb was excised for symptomatic relief. Histopathological examination disclosed dissection of the conjunctival filtering bleb into the cornea between Bowman'

The surgical management of leaking filtering blebs

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 1999
Leaking blebs may be encountered in the early postoperative period, or months to years after filtering surgery. Early postoperative bleb leaks are most often related to surgical trauma to the conjunctiva and can be avoided by careful surgical technique. Spontaneous late bleb leaks occur more frequently in glaucoma filtering surgery following adjunctive
