Surgery of the Filtering Bleb

JAMA Ophthalmology, 1962
Documentation for techniques of surgical manipulation of a filtering bleb is meager in ophthalmological literature. Of particular interest in this matter is: (1) the management of loss of the filtering bleb after external filtering surgery for glaucoma, (2) management of external fistulization of a filtering bleb, (3) treatment of extension of a ...

Stimulation of a Filtering Bleb

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1965
When a polycystic bleb forms after a filtering procedure for glaucoma, aqueous flows across the conjunctiva. 1-3 This has been demonstrated by dilution of fluorescein applied to the bleb area. The dark, nonfluorescent undiluted dye becomes a brilliant greenish-orange upon contact with aqueous.

Dellen Associated With Filtering Blebs

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1983
Dellen may occur in the corneas of eyes with filtering blebs. Nine cases of such dellen were encountered in a series of 97 consecutive trabeculectomies. In two such patients, the dell progressed to a deep corneal ulcer, although in most cases it healed uneventfully with minor changes in therapy.

Leaking Filtering Blebs

Dysfunctional Filtering Blebs

Survey of Ophthalmology, 1998
Guarded filtration surgery, is commonly used to control the intraocular pressure (IOP) in glaucomatous patients. Filtration surgery lowers the IOP by creating a fistula between the inner compartments of the eye and the subconjunctival space (i.e., filtering bleb). There are several options to improve the function of filtering blebs and to prevent their

Needle Revision of Filtering Blebs

Journal of Glaucoma, 2008
The modern version of trabeculectomy is associated with a very high success rate. As time progresses after surgery, failure of filtration, however, is common, as are problems with filtering blebs such as leaks and dysesthesia. Needle revision of filtering blebs is a useful adjunct to failed, failing, leaking, or dysesthetic trabeculectomy filters and ...
