Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Effect of liming on yield and quality of peppermint and Sachalin mint in fine sand soil of Northern Finland [PDF]
Soil acidity commonly limits plant production in the fine sand soil of Northern Finland, which often has a low pH (5.5-6.5) and contains low levels of Ca and Mg.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Experimental study on pore structure and freezing characteristics of graded soils based on NMR
The freezing characteristics of pore water is the basis for studying the moisture and heat transfer and frost heave of frozen roadbeds. Based on the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology, the effects of the fine-grained soil type, the fine-grained ...

Quantum-gravity predictions for the fine-structure constant
Asymptotically safe quantum fluctuations of gravity can uniquely determine the value of the gauge coupling for a large class of grand unified models. In turn, this makes the electromagnetic fine-structure constant calculable.

Two- and Three-particle States in a Nonrelativistic Four-fermion Model in the Fine-tuning Renormalization Scheme. Goldstone mode "against" extension theory [PDF]
In a nonrelativistic contact four-fermion model we show that simple regularisation prescriptions together with a definite fine-tuning of the cut-off-parameter dependence of ``bare'' quantities give the exact solutions for the two-particle sector and ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
