Morphology, Swimming Performance and Propulsive Mode of Six Co-occurring Hydromedusae [PDF]
Jet propulsion, based on examples from the Hydrozoa, has served as a valuable model for swimming by medusae. However, cnidarian medusae span several taxonomic classes (collectively known as the Medusazoa) and represent a diverse array of morphologies and

Large deviations for many Brownian bridges with symmetrised initial-terminal condition [PDF]
Consider a large system of $N$ Brownian motions in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with some non-degenerate initial measure on some fixed time interval $[0,\beta]$ with symmetrised initial-terminal condition.

This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

Design optimization of axisymmetric bodies in nonuniform transonic flow [PDF]
An inviscid transonic code capable of designing an axisymmetric body in a uniform or nonuniform flow was developed. The design was achieved by direct optimiation by coupling an analysis code with an optimizer.

Variational multiscale analysis: the fine-scale Green's function for stochastic partial differential equations [PDF]
We present the variational multiscale (VMS) method for partial differential equations (PDEs) with stochastic coefficients and source terms. We use it as a method for generating accurate coarse-scale solutions while accounting for the effect of the unresolved fine scales through a model term that contains a fine-scale stochastic Green's function.

A Chinese Corpus for Fine-grained Entity Typing [PDF]
Fine-grained entity typing is a challenging task with wide applications. However, most existing datasets for this task are in English. In this paper, we introduce a corpus for Chinese fine-grained entity typing that contains 4,800 mentions manually labeled through crowdsourcing. Each mention is annotated with free-form entity types. To make our dataset

Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Effects of fineness and closure ratios on boattail drag of circular-arc-afterbody models with jet exhaust at Mach numbers up to 1.3 [PDF]
The effects of variations in fineness ratio and closure ratio on the boattail drag of circular-arc afterbody models were investigated at static conditions and at Mach numbers from 0.40 to 1.30. Jet total-pressure ratio was varied from jet off to about 6,

Recycled powder as filler admixture in cementitious systems : production and characterization [PDF]
In concrete production, aggregate represents almost 75% of the materials used. The exploitation of natural sources for this purpose also causes an environmental impact, while deposition of wastes from construction industry pollutes soil and water.
