Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are associated with early breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study evaluated EMT and TIL shifts, with immunofluorescence and RNA sequencing, at diagnosis and in residual tumors as potential biomarkers associated with treatment response.

Optimizing the operating conditions of gold elution and electrowinning for Tau Lekoa stream at Kopanang gold plant [PDF]
The final gold product of Tau Lekoa mine has a low fineness. This is caused by high concentration of bases metals in the reefs. Some of these base metals together with gold are leached with cyanide and are loaded into carbon. If not adequately controlled,

A FINE meteor was visible here to-night at 6.36 p.m. It fell perpendicularly almost due north-north-east, disappearing about 20° above the horizon, and was then as nearly as possible of the brilliancy and colour of Venus, which was shining in the southwest at the time.

Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Equivariant smoothing of piecewise linear manifolds
We prove that every piecewise linear manifold of dimension up to four on which a finite group acts by piecewise linear homeomorphisms admits a compatible smooth structure with respect to which the group acts smoothly.

Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Fine-Tuning is Fine, if Calibrated
Fine-tuning is arguably the most straightforward way to tailor a pre-trained model (e.g., a foundation model) to downstream applications, but it also comes with the risk of losing valuable knowledge the model had learned in pre-training. For example, fine-tuning a pre-trained classifier capable of recognizing a large number of classes to master a ...
