An LCFS finite buffer model with finite source batch input [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Probability, 1989
Queueing systems are studied with a last-come, first-served queueing discipline and batch arrivals generated by a finite number of non-exponential sources. A closed-form expression is derived for the steady-state queue length distribution. This expression has a scaled geometric form and is insensitive to the input distribution.

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Transient and stationary characteristics of a packet buffer modelled as an MAP/SM/1/b system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2014
A packet buffer limited to a fixed number of packets (regardless of their lengths) is considered. The buffer is described as a finite FIFO queuing system fed by a Markovian Arrival Process (MAP) with service times forming a Semi-Markov (SM) process (MAP ...

Performance Analysis of a Finite Capacity Femtocell Network [PDF]

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2014
A feasible solution to wireless spectrum scarcity is the deployment of femtocells along with already existing or new macrocells. This hybrid architecture not only helps to increase the system capacity but also improves the wireless signal quality for ...

Design of an Electromagnetic Variable Valve Train with a Magnetorheological Buffer

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
In this paper, an electromagnetic variable valve train with a magnetorheological buffer (EMVT with MR buffer) is proposed. This system is mainly composed of an electromagnetic linear actuator (EMLA) and a magnetorheological buffer (MR buffer). The valves

Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces

Machine Learning Tool for Analyzing Finite Buffer Queueing Systems

open access: yesMathematics
Queueing delays are one very important performance measure for most engineering network systems. Providing low-delay systems is a major goal of service providers, as it is a leading concern for users/customers. These network systems and their performance
