On information transmission over a finite buffer channel [PDF]
We study information transmission through a finite buffer queue. We model the channel as a finite-state channel whose state is given by the buffer occupancy upon packet arrival; a loss occurs when a packet arrives to a full queue. We study this problem in two contexts: one where the state of the buffer is known at the receiver, and the other where it ...

A gradient‐engineered all‐paper sensor is fabricated by integrating MXene and in situ grown AgNPs within hierarchical cellulose networks. The device breaks the sensitivity–detection range trade‐off through cascaded conductive pathways, enabling ultrahigh pressure sensitivity, humidity–pressure decoupled dual‐mode sensing, and outstanding EMI shielding,

Job Shop Scheduling Focusing on Role of Buffer [PDF]
A scheduling problem is formulated in order to consistently manage each manufacturing resource, including machine tools, assembly robots, AGV, storehouses, material shelves, and so on. The manufacturing resources are classified into three types: producer,

A Discrete Time Queueing Approach to Model and Evaluate Slotted Ring Network Buffer using Matrix Geometric Method [PDF]
Assorted analytical methods have been proposed for evaluating the performance of a slotted ring network. This paper proposes MGM (Matrix Geometric Method) to analyze the station buffer of a slotted ring for DT (Discrete-Time) queueing. The slotted ring

Analysis of Load-Balanced Switch with Finite Buffers [PDF]
Recently the Birkhoff-von Neumann load-balanced (LB) switch has become a promising switch design due to its high scalability properties and simple control. The performance of the LB switch was studied under strong assumptions such as infinite buffers and admissible traffic conditions. However, both such assumptions may be violated in multi-hop networks

Engineered Nanotopography to Modulate Growth and Signaling of Neuronal Networks
This study examines the interaction between neurons and nanoscale topographies on engineered substrates. Neurons cultured on nanowires, nanopillars and nanoneedles exhibit enhanced neurite outgrowth, form more organized neuronal circuits, and display improved synaptic connectivity, compared to flat substrates.

Marginal productivity index policies for scheduling a multiclass delay-/loss-sensitive queue [PDF]
We address the problem of scheduling a multiclass M/M/1 queue with a finite dedicated buffer for each class. Some classes are delay-sensitive, modeling real-time traffic (e.g.

Compressive behavior of cylindrical rubber buffer confined with fiber reinforced polymer
This paper presents a new composite buffer for mitigating the lateral displacement of structures under seismic loading. The buffer consists of a cylindrical rubber wrapped with fiber reinforced polymer composite. The uniaxial compressive stiffness of the

Bulk‐Like Spin Cycloid and Fast Switching in Freestanding BiFeO3
Freestanding BiFeO3 membranes overcome substrate‐induced constraints by simultaneously restoring the intrinsic bulk‐like spin cycloid and enabling ≈50% faster ferroelectric switching than substrate‐clamped epitaxial thin films. This combination of robust noncollinear antiferromagnetic order and efficient electric‐field switching establishes ...

Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.
