Model predictive control applied to an improved five-level bidirectional converter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents an improved five level bidirectional converter (iFBC) controlled by finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC). This control strategy consists in using the discrete time nature of the iFBC to define its state in each ...

Mechanical Properties of Architected Polymer Lattice Materials: A Comparative Study of Additive Manufacturing and CAD Using FEM and µ‐CT

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...

Distributed Model Predictive Consensus via the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We propose a distributed optimization method for solving a distributed model predictive consensus problem. The goal is to design a distributed controller for a network of dynamical systems to optimize a coupled objective function while respecting state ...

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Guaranteeing Input Tracking For Constrained Systems: Theory and Application to Demand Response

open access: yes, 2015
A method for certifying exact input trackability for constrained discrete time linear systems is introduced in this paper. A signal is assumed to be drawn from a reference set and the system must track this signal with a linear combination of its inputs.

Error-voltage-based open-switch fault diagnosis strategy for matrix converters with model predictive control method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper proposes an error-voltage based open-switch fault diagnosis strategy for matrix converter (MC). A finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) method is used to operate the MC.

Unraveling the Mg Loss Mechanism and Degradation Kinetics in Thermoelectric n‐Type Mg2Si‐Mg2Sn Solid Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mg‐based thermoelectrics are among the most promising candidates for power generation applications but their performance is compromised by Mg loss at device operation temperatures due to the higher chemical potential of Mg (μMg${\mu}_{\mathrm{Mg}}$) inside the material compared to the environment.

Exciton Binding Energy Modulation in 2D Perovskites: A Phenomenological Keldysh Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The intrinsic screening effects are successfully decoupled from structural distortion by rigorously designing a series of 2D perovskites. This enabled us to demonstrate how the dielectric environment modulates the quasiparticle bandgap and exciton binding energy.
