The finite volume element methods for Poisson equation based on Adini’s element

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2013
In this paper, we construct and analyze the finite volume element scheme based on Adini's element for Poisson equation, choosing trial and test spaces as the Adini's finite element space and the piecewise linear function space respectively. Optimal order error estimates in H^1 and L^2 norms are derived.

The finite volume element method with quadratic basis functions

Computing, 1996
A box method with quadratic basis functions is considered for the Dirichlet problem for the Poisson equation in polygon regions. The resulting grid systems are specified for square grid triangulations and more general ones. It should be noted that the corresponding matrices are non-symmetrical.

SIMPLIFIED CONTROL-VOLUME FINITE-ELEMENT METHOD

Numerical Heat Transfer, Part B: Fundamentals, 1996
Localized vector algebra treatment of nonorthogonality is applied to two-dimensional quadrilateral control volumes using Cartesian base vectors in a primitive variable formulation of the Navier-Stokes equations for steady incompressible laminar flow. With optional grid-aligned, locally analytic interpolation, a simplified control-volume finite-element ...

Finite Volume Element Method for a Nonlinear Parabolic Equation

Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics
Summary: In this article, we study a parabolic equation with both nonlinear time-derivative term and nonlinear diffusion term by the finite volume element method. The optimal error estimate in \(H^1\)-norm is proved for fully discrete scheme. The suboptimal error estimate in \(L^2\)-norm is proved both for semi-discrete scheme and fully discrete scheme.
