Control volume finite element method for radiation

In this paper a new methodology is presented by the authors for the numerical treatment of radiative heat transfer in emitting, absorbing and scattering media. This methodology is based on the utilisation of Control Volume Finite Element Method (CVFEM) and the use, for the first time, of matrix formulation of the discretized Radiative Transfer Equation

Finite volume element methods for non-definite problems

For the 2-D and 3-D non-definite problems error estimates are derived for finite volume element methods. It is proved that the simple upwind scheme for the solution of this problem is unconditionally stable and has first-order accuracy.

AbstractWe present the error analysis of a particular Oldroyd-B type model with the limiting Weissenberg number going to infinity. Assuming a suitable regularity of the exact solution we study the error estimates of a standard finite element method and of a combined finite element/finite volume method.

Finite element integration for the control volume method

The paper presents a contribution to the endeavour to combine the advantages of the finite element method (FEM) with those of the control volume method (CVM). The authors give an interpretation of the FEM that allows it to be treated like a CVM. This formal CVM which is based on FEM techniques is described.

A Combined Finite-Element and Finite-Volume Method in Reservoir Simulation

A decoupled algorithm which combines finite-element and finite-volume method (FEM & FVM) for reservoir simulation is presented in the paper. The governing equations of fluid flowing in porous medium are decoupled to solve unknown parameters of pressure and saturation.
