Development of New Boric Acid Gel Baits for Use on Invasive Ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) [PDF]

open access: yesSociobiology, 2020
The current control measures used against common household ants in urban and agricultural settings include perimeter insecticide applications. These often have the potential to cause problems of poisoning non-target organisms, due to the insecticidal ...

Non-detection of honeybee hive contamination following Vespula wasp baiting with protein containing fipronil. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Introduced wasps (Vespula germanica and V. vulgaris) are costly invertebrate pests in New Zealand, with large impacts on the local ecology and economy.

Efficacy of acetamiprid and fipronil fly baits against the housefly (Musca domestica L.) under laboratory conditions [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2018
Background: The housefly Musca domestica L. (Diptera: Muscidae) is permanent pests in livestock facilities. High fly density in livestock and poultry farms can increase the risks of economic loss and public health.

Efficacy of a federally approved flea bait, orally administered to white-footed mice (Peromyscus leucopus), against blood feeding Ixodes scapularis larvae under simulated field conditions [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Parasites and Wildlife, 2023
A promising alternative approach to conventional vector control practices is the use of systemic insecticides/acaricides orally administered to relevant mammalian host species to control blood feeding disease vectors.

Action mode of fipronil and sulfluramid in baits on Acromyrmex crassispinus (Forel, 1909) (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in laboratory conditions [PDF]

open access: yesBioAssay, 2023
The leaf-cutting ants (LCAs) of the genus Atta Fabricius, 1804 and Acromyrmex Mayr, 1865 (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) are major pests in forest plantations, agriculture and livestock.

Field Evaluation of Boric Acid- and Fipronil-Based Bait Stations Against Adult Mosquitoes

open access: yesJournal of the American Mosquito Control Association, 2008
The effectiveness of boric acid (1%) and fipronil (0.1%) bait stations in reducing the number of laboratory-reared female Aedes aegypti and Ochlerotatus taeniorhynchus mosquitoes released in outdoor screened cages was evaluated. Both toxicants significantly reduced landing rates of the 2 mosquito species on a human subject.

Field trial on the control effect of fipronil bait against German cockroaches. [PDF]

open access: yesKorean J Parasitol, 2006
A field trial on the control effect of fipronil poison bait against German cockroaches (Blatella germanica) was carried out at different restaurant types in Sinchon, Seoul, Republic of Korea. Monitoring was performed applying food baited traps for 2 days per week.

The different aspects of attractive toxic baits containing fipronil for control of the German cockroach (Blattella germanica). [PDF]

open access: yesEnviron Anal Health Toxicol, 2022
The use of Attractive Toxic Baits (ATBs) is considered to be a low-risk practical method for controlling cockroaches. This study evaluates the attractiveness of a lab-made, fipronil-containing bait, and its effect on the food consumption and mortality of the German cockroach Blattella germanica, under field and laboratory conditions.

Orally delivered fipronil-laced bait reduces juvenile blacklegged tick (Ixodes scapularis) burdens on wild white-footed mice (Peromyscus leucopus)

open access: yesTicks and Tick-borne Diseases, 2023
While the topical acaricidal treatment of rodent pathogen reservoirs has been readily explored over the past several decades, oral systemic acaricidal treatment is only recently gaining traction as an alternative approach to the management of ticks and tick-borne pathogens.

Control of the Sugarcane Wireworm Melanotus sakishimensis (Coleoptera: Elateridae) by a Fipronil Bait.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Applied Entomology and Zoology, 2007
Effects of fipronil bait (0.5%) on sugarcane wireworm Melanotus sakishimensis Ohira were evaluated in laboratory and field experiments. A laboratory experiment comparing the efficacy of fipronil bait with 1% fipronil granules indicated that the fipronil bait actually attracts and kills wireworms.
