Unraveling the interaction of co‐encapsulated Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Metarhizium brunneum in calcium alginate‐based attract‐and‐kill beads

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 80, Issue 10, Page 5131-5140, October 2024.
Co‐encapsulated Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Metarhizium brunneum interacted beneficially but also competed for resources. Depending on the composition of beads, steep oxygen gradients with internal hypoxic zones and temporary severe acidification occurred.

Quantifying the role of termite decomposition in a mesic savanna

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 56, Issue 4, July 2024.
Savanna ecosystems are highly vulnerable to climate and land‐use changes yet lack precise assessments of carbon cycling. In a large‐scale termite suppression experiment, we found that termites accounted for two thirds of the mass loss from dry wood and a third of the mass loss from fresh native wood, dry dung, and dry grass.

Development of Deltamethrin‐Laced Attractive Toxic Sugar Bait to Control Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus) Population

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Medicine, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Background. The attractive toxic sugar bait (ATSB) is a promising strategy for controlling mosquitoes at the adult stage. The strategy is based on the use of a combination of fruit juice, sugar, and a toxin in order to attract and kill the adult mosquitoes.

Effects on Attraction, Feeding and Mortality of Bactrocera tryoni (Froggatt) (Diptera:Tephritidae) and Beneficial Organisms with Protein Bait-Insecticide Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This thesis examines the effects of malathion, chlorpyrifos, fipronil and spinosad mixed in fruit fly protein bait on attraction, feeding and mortality of the Queensland fruit fly, Bactrocera tryoni (Froggatt).

Toxicity of insecticide-bait mixtures to insecticide resistant and susceptible western corn rootworms (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Organophosphate resistant and susceptible populations of the western corn rootworm, Diabrotica virgifera virgifera LeConte. were subjected to adult feeding bioassays with different combinations of insecticide and a cucurbitacin bait. Five technical grade

Fipronil: An Ultra-Low-Dose Bait Toxicant for Control of Red Imported Fire Ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

open access: yesThe Florida Entomologist, 1998
Fipronil, a new broad spectrum pyrazole insecticide, was tested both in the laboratory and field as a bait toxicant for control of red imported fire ants, Solenopsis invicta Buren. Laboratory bioassays with worker ants showed that delayed toxicity occurred with baits ranging from 5 to 200 g/ml active ingredient (AI). Tests with field-collected colonies

Effects of fipronil bait on the sugarcane growth and yield in Kume Island, Japan. [PDF]

open access: yes

Insecticide Resistance and Underlying Mechanisms in Field-Collected German Cockroaches (Blattodea: Ectobiidae) From California, and Sucralose as a Potential Bait Toxicant [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Five strains of German cockroaches, WM, RG386, Ryan, CDR, and SY, were collected from field sites in California. Resistance to five bait insecticides was assessed in laboratory arenas and compared to the UCR susceptible strain, revealing increased ...
