Simultaneous UBVRI Observations of the AE Aquarii Blobs
We summarize the results of our study of the cataclysmic variable AE Aqr on the basis of simultaneous UBV RI observations. For the flares, we estimated the average risetime of about 300 sec, and colours (U−B)0~1.1 and (B−V )0~0.1.

Stability of Fireballs and $\gamma$-Ray Bursts
Fireballs are an essential part of any cosmological $\gamma$-ray burst. We drive here a stability criterion for fireballs and show that fireballs are Rayleigh-Taylor unstable in any region in which the entropy decreases outward. The instability begins to

A Generic Dynamical Model of Gamma-ray Burst Remnants [PDF]
The conventional generic model is deemed to explain the dynamics of $\gamma$-ray burst remnants very well, no matter whether they are adiabatic or highly radiative.

Optical monitoring of fireballs can provide reconstructions of luminous trajectories and the derivation of heliocentric orbits, whereas spectral observations are able to supply information from an entirely different perspective, with composition and ...

The tentative identification of approximately ten relativistic antihelium (He¯) cosmic-ray events at AMS-02 would, if confirmed, challenge our understanding of the astrophysical synthesis of heavy antinuclei. We propose a novel scenario for the enhanced production of such antinuclei that is triggered by isolated, catastrophic injections of large ...

We report simultaneous multicolour observations in 5 bands (UBVRI) of the flickering variability of the cataclysmic variable AE Aqr. Our aim is to estimate the parameters (colours, temperature, size) of the fireballs that produce the optical flares ...

New Exact Solutions of Relativistic Hydrodynamics for Longitudinally Expanding Fireballs
We present new, exact, finite solutions of relativistic hydrodynamics for longitudinally expanding fireballs for arbitrary constant value of the speed of sound.

Historical Bolide Infrasound Dataset (1960–1972)
We present the first fully curated, publicly accessible archive of infrasonic records from ten large bolide events documented by the U.S. Air Force Technical Applications Center’s global microbarometer network between 1960 and 1972.

Autonomous spectrographic system to analyse the main elements of fireballs and meteors
We present a meteor observation system based on imaging CCD cameras, wide-field optics and a diffraction grating. This system is composed of two independent spectrographs with different configurations, which allows us to capture images of fireballs and ...

Hydrodynamics from free-streaming to thermalization and back again
We study the evolution of the Knudsen and Reynolds numbers in (0+1)-dimensionally expanding fluids with Bjorken symmetry for systems whose microscopic mean free path rises more quickly with time than usually assumed.
