Renormalization Group Equation for Tsallis Statistics

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2018
The nonextensive statistics proposed by Tsallis has found wide applicability, being present even in the description of experimental data from high energy collisions. A system with a fractal structure in its energy-momentum space, named thermofractal, was

Detection of Radio Emission from Fireballs

open access: yes, 2014
We present the findings from the Prototype All-Sky Imager (PASI), a backend correlator of the first station of the Long Wavelength Array (LWA1), which has recorded over 11,000 hours of all-sky images at frequencies between 25 and 75 MHz.

Do Big Data Applications and Financial Innovation Lead to Enhanced Banking Performance? Evidence From the United Kingdom

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Big data and financial innovations are vital to enhancing the performance of banking institutions. However, limited evidence exists on the effects of big data applications and financial innovation on bank performance. This study addresses this gap by constructing a theoretical framework linking big data applications and financial innovations ...

Modeling of Energy Release at the Final Stage of the Meteoroid Movement

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2016
The paper continues to build upon the author’s previous research on fireballs fragmentation. A model of the sudden explosive destruction of the cosmic body at the height of the maximum flash is used.

Evaluating the Role of Analogies in Biochemistry Education: Lessons Learned From Pre‐ and Post‐Pandemic Dental Student Perceptions

open access: yesJournal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biochemistry forms the foundation for understanding biomolecules and molecular processes crucial to dental and oral biology. However, it is often perceived as a challenging subject for dental students with diverse educational backgrounds. Analogies are a pedagogical tool that helps explain new and abstract concepts in biochemistry.

Photographic Observations of the Hayabusa Re-entry

open access: yes, 2011
We analyzed photographic observations of the re-entry of the Hayabusa spacecraft and capsule over Southern Australia on June 13, 2010, 13:52 UT. Radiometric measurements of the brightness of the associated fireball were obtained as well.

Mapping Multi‐Stakeholder Engagement: A Q Methodology in a Regional Project Management Scenario

open access: yesStrategic Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Research on project management describes the essence of projects involving multiple stakeholders, stressing the value derived from diverse work practices. However, this underestimates issues of counterproductive disagreements associated with diverse groups participating in a project.

A Near-Earth Object Model Calibrated to Earth Impactors

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
The population of Earth-impacting meteoroids and their size-dependent orbital elements are key to understanding the origin of meteorites and informing planetary defense efforts. Outstanding questions include the role of collisions in depleting meteoroids

Hydrodynamics of relativistic fireballs [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1993
We examine analytically and numerically the evolution of a relativistic fireball. We show that, after an early rearrangement phase, most of the matter and energy in the fireball is concentrated within a narrow shell. The shell propagates at nearly the speed of light, with a frozen radial profile and according to a simple set of scaling laws.
