Equivalence Trial of the Non-Bismuth 10-Day Concomitant and 14-Day Hybrid Therapies for Helicobacter pylori Eradication in High Clarithromycin Resistance Areas

open access: yesAntibiotics
Background and aim: We conducted an equivalence trial of quadruple non-bismuth “concomitant” and “hybrid” regimens for H. pylori eradication in a high clarithromycin resistance area. Methods: There were 321 treatment-naïve H.

Going viral − Virus‐targeting nanobodies for research, diagnostics and therapy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The increasing prevalence of viral diseases represents a major threat for global human health. Nanobodies, small binding fragments derived from camelid heavy‐chain antibodies, offer versatile tools for viral research, diagnostics, and antiviral therapy.

Timdarpacept (IMM01) combined with azacitidine (AZA) as first-line therapy in adults with higher risk chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML): results from a prospective, multicenter, phase II study

open access: yesExperimental Hematology & Oncology
Background Timdarpacept (IMM01) is a recombinant signal regulatory protein α–IgG1 fusion protein that exerts antitumor activity by blocking the “don’t eat me” signal while simultaneously activating the “eat me” signal, inducing robust antibody-dependent ...

Soft motions encoded by the fold and mediated by conserved hinge sites drive V‐ATPase allosteric machinery and autoinhibition

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Vacuolar H+‐ATPase (V‐ATPase) is a multisubunit rotary proton pump that acidifies intracellular compartments. Using elastic network models, we identified conserved hinge residues that govern its large‐scale functional motions. We show that intrinsically encoded ‘soft modes’ drive critical functional transitions, including rotary catalysis and ...

Planned first-line bilateral femoral access for endovascular treatment of unilateral common iliac artery chronic total occlusion: procedural control and outcomes

open access: yesArchives of Medical Science: Atherosclerotic Diseases
Introduction Chronic total occlusion (CTO) of the common iliac artery (CIA) represents a technically challenging subset of aorto-iliac occlusive disease, particularly when the lesion extends close to the aorto-iliac bifurcation.

How structural disorder and polyelectrolyte properties of prothymosin α enable its large interactome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, complexes of the fully disordered and highly negatively charged prothymosin α are collected, described, and discussed. Linked to its poly‐electrostatic character, prothymosin α engages a large interactome through multiple different binding modes ranging from fully disordered complexes to short linear motif (SLiM)‐driven interactions ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.
