Neuro-lnformed Mental Health Counseling: A Person-First Perspective

open access: yes, 2019
Counseling from a client-centered, person-first perspective involves walking with and experiencing relationship with another person. One person in this relationship happens to he in the counselor role, while the other is in the client role, but both are ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

‘First-Person Perspective’ and Autistic Spectrum Disorder. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Lynne Rudder Baker describes what it is to be a human person in terms of having a robust first-person perspective that is linked to the human body during that person’s lifetime.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Impact of First vs. Third Person Perspective in Virtual Reality

open access: yes
Wildlife collisions with trains present significant environmental, economic, and safety concerns. With the predicted surge in the global railway network, combined with the rising popularity and investments in railways, the risk of fatalities resulting ...

Perspective and Free Will: Judging Accidents from First-Person vs. Third-Person Views

open access: yes
This study aims to explore how the perspective from which an accident is viewed (first-person vs. third-person) influences moral judgments about the event, and whether these judgments are affected by the individual's belief in free will. This study seeks

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

First person perspective, objectivity and language

open access: yes, 2006
In the research project The interplay between language and thought in understanding problems from a student perspective, we have analysed students’ understandings of a physical event. The investigation is done from a first person perspective since we are
