Obesity alters the fitness of peritumoral adipose tissue, exacerbating tumor invasiveness in renal cancer through the induction of ADAM12 and CYP1B1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor microenvironment drives cancer formation and progression. We analyzed the role of human cancer‐associated adipocytes from patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) stratified as lean, overweight, or obese. RNA‐seq demonstrated that, among the most altered genes involved in the tumor–stroma crosstalk, are ADAM12 and CYP1B1, which were proven to be ...

Redescription, new distribution record, DNA sequence and length-weight relationship of the Eel-loach Pangio pangia (Cypriniformes: Cobitidae) in the River Ganges Basin, India

open access: yesCuadernos de investigación UNED, 2013
The Eel-loach Pangio pangia has never been reported from East India in the River Ganges. In August, 2011, we collected a total of 39 individuals of this species during fish diversity explorations in River Ganges at Narora.

Detection rate for ESR1 mutations is higher in circulating‐tumor‐cell‐derived genomic DNA than in paired plasma cell‐free DNA samples as revealed by ddPCR

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of ESR1 mutations in plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) is highly important for the selection of treatment in patients with breast cancer. Using multiplex‐ddPCR and identical blood draws, we investigated whether circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and cfDNA provide similar or complementary information for ESR1 mutations.

Robust acute myeloid leukemia engraftment in humanized scaffolds using injectable biomaterials and intravenous xenotransplantation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived xenografts (PDXs) can be improved by implantation of a humanized niche. We tested different biomaterials and approaches, and demonstrate that the combination of an injectable biomaterial for scaffold creation plus an intravenous route for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) xenotransplantation provide the most convenient and robust approach to

KMT2A degradation is observed in decitabine‐responsive acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that decitabine (DEC) not only degrades the DNA methyltransferase DNMT1 but also the leukemic driver lysine methyltransferase KMT2A likely due to structural similarity of the DNA‐binding CXXC domains. DEC influences KMT2A downstream processes and synergizes with menin inhibitor revumenib (REV) to decrease leukemic cell proliferation, and

Time management in a Poisson fishing model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
The aim of the paper is to extend the model of "fishing problem". The simple formulation is following. The angler goes to fishing. He buys fishing ticket for a fixed time. There are two places for fishing at the lake. The fishes are caught according to renewal processes which are different at both places. The fishes' weights and the inter-arrival times

Polyfunctional CD8+CD226+RUNX2hi effector T cells are diminished in advanced stages of chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CD226+CD8+ T cells express elevated levels of RUNX2, exhibit higher proliferation capacity, cytokines and cytolytic molecules expression, and migratory capacity. In contrast, CD226−CD8+ T cells display an exhausted phenotype associated with the increased expression of co‐inhibitory receptors and impaired effector functions.

Molecular and morphological evidences resolve taxonomic ambiguity between Systomus sarana sarana (Hamilton, 1822) and S. sarana subnasutus (Valenciennes) and suggest elevating them into distinct species

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2018
Taxonomic ambiguity exists in genus Systomus and recently many new species were described under this genus. Systomus sarana subnasutus is considered a valid subspecies of S. sarana sarana although revisions have been done by some researchers. We employed
