Culture of fish in rice fields [PDF]

open access: yes
Rice is presently grown in 113 countries. Rice farming also offers a suitable environment for the culture of fish and other aquatic organism. This publication synthesizes the available information on the role that aquaculture can play in rice-based ...

Fin fish Culture [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The potential inshore area in less than 18 m depth available for near sea farming along our coast is estimated to be of the order of 9 million hectares. After the initial experiments at Mandapam during 60's, C.M.F.R.I formulated projects and experiments

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

Environmental impact assessment of the pangasius sector in the Mekong Delta [PDF]

open access: yes
In the past seven years the export of white pangasius fillets grew fast. The culture method shifted to intensive production of striped catfish (Ca Tra) in deep ponds because this is more efficient than the pen and cage culture of Ca Basa.

Influence of temperature on growth and oxidative status of juvenile Southern black drum (Pogonias courbina)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
Temperature has a strong influence on fish metabolism, therefore it impacts aquaculture production. This study aims to understand its effects on survival, growth, and oxidative stress responses of Southern black drum Pogonias courbina.

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

Atoh1 is required for the formation of lateral line electroreceptors and hair cells, whereas FoxG1 represses an electrosensory fate

open access: yeseLife
In electroreceptive jawed fishes and amphibians, individual lateral line placodes form lines of neuromasts on the head containing mechanosensory hair cells, flanked by fields of ampullary organs containing electroreceptors—modified hair cells that ...
