Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Assessment of fish fauna in relation to biodiversity indices of Chalan Beel, Bangladesh

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aquatic Biology, 2016
The research was carried out to enlist the fish species diversity along with diversity indices of existing fish species of Chalan Beel, Bangladesh. During the study, a total of 78 fish species including 69 native and 9 exotic fish species were recorded ...

Estimating Demographic Parameters for Bearded Seals, Erignathus barbatus, in Alaska Using Close‐Kin Mark‐Recapture Methods

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications
Reliable estimates of population abundance and demographics are essential for managing harvested species. Ice‐associated phocids, “ice seals,” are a vital resource for subsistence‐dependent coastal Native communities in western and northern Alaska, USA ...

Diversity of fish habitats

open access: yes, 2017
Habitat is the place where a species lives and its surrounding biotic and abiotic environment. Ecologists seeking to develop explanatory and forecast models have long wondered about this fundamental question: how can the presence of an individual at a given place and time be explained? Indeed, the different fish species are not distributed at random in

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Does riparian vegetation affect fish assemblage? A longitudinal gradient analysis in three Amazonian streams

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2018
The degradation of riparian vegetation in low-order streams can cause irreversible environmental damage, biodiversity loss and alter the structure of communities.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Fish Community Diversity and Spatiotemporal Dynamics in the Downstream of the Fujiang River Based on Environmental DNA

open access: yesFishes
Hydrological changes caused by dam construction are among the primary drivers of global freshwater biodiversity decline. To assess the current status of fish community diversity and examine the impacts of cascade hydropower development on fish diversity,
