The Variation in a Fish Egg Community and Its Relationship with Environmental Factors in Daya Bay, South China Sea

open access: yesFishes
To assess the impact of the marine environment on the community of fish eggs in Daya Bay, we collected fish egg samples across four seasons during 2022. A total of 51 species of fish eggs were gathered.

Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics Unveil Key Regulators Governing Cell Differentiation for Schistosoma japonicum Sexual Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using single‐cell and spatial transcriptomics, we identified key regulators that govern cell differentiation involved in parasite development and egg laying in Schistosoma japonicum. This comprehensive study establishes a foundational resource for understanding schistosome biology, deciphers the regulatory programs underlying cell differentiation and ...

Harnessing Large‐Scale Multi‐Omics Data for Risk Prediction and Deep Phenotyping of Valvular Heart Diseases in the General Population

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Large‐scale UK Biobank analyses identify clinical and proteomic signatures for early prediction of valvular heart disease and its subtypes. Proteins add predictive value for VHD, AVS, and MVR, with outcome‐specific compact panels showing translational potential. Multi‐layer evidence highlights matrix remodeling, protease regulation, immune inflammation,

OPTIMIZATION OF TILAPIA FISH (OREOCHROMIS NILOTICUS) EGGS HATCHABILITY WITH A FUNNEL SYSTEM [PDF]

open access: yesRussian Journal of Agricultural and Socio-Economic Sciences
Efforts to increase tilapia fish yields to obtain productive seeds cannot be separated from regular care and monitoring starting from the spawning process, hatching of fish eggs, and rearing of larvae until they become fish seeds.

Membrane‐Active Peptide Protects Against Inflammation by Targeting NLRP3 Activation at the Trans‐Golgi Network

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The membrane‐active peptide Pep19‐2.5 reduces harmful inflammation by blocking activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome at trans‐Golgi network membranes. By targeting key membrane interactions, Pep19‐2.5 suppresses inflammatory IL‐1β production and alleviates allergic airway inflammation in mice, leading to reduced immune cell infiltration and improved ...

Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.

Establishing a COI DNA barcoding reference database for Taiwanese coastal fish species from egg and larvae specimens [PDF]

open access: yesZooKeys
Fish eggs and larval stages are essential components of marine ecosystems and play important roles in sustaining marine food webs. However, the egg and larval stages often lack distinct diagnostic characteristics, making it challenging to identify ...

Functional Sex Reversal in Adult Gonochoristic Teleosts is Mediated by Ovarian Germline Stem Cell Plasticity and Somatic Cell Transdifferentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Oocytes play crucial roles in maintaining ovarian fate in adult gonochoristic fish. Targeted oocyte ablation with aromatase inhibition triggers the activation of surviving germline stem cells and the transdifferentiation of somatic cells from granoulosa/theca to Sertoli/Leydig lineages, inducing a complete and functional female‐to‐male sex reversal ...
