Comparison of Menhaden Fish Meal and a Fish Meal Substitute in Broiler Diets

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1980
Abstract Two experiments were conducted using broiler strain chickens to evaluate the use of a fish meal substitute (Pro-Pak) in broiler diets. Pro-Pak is a commercially available product consisting of various ingredients supposedly blended to approximate the nutrient specifications of menhaden fish meal.

The Enhanced Whey Protein Oral Bioavailability and Muscle Anabolism Ability by a Simple and Effective Piperine‐Whey Protein Synergistic Codelivery System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
WP(Pip) is a mixture of whey protein and piperine‐loaded nanoemulsion stabilized by WP through microfluidic homogenization. Acting as a “smart key,” piperine opens epithelial tight junctions to enhance absorption of whey protein and, thereby increasing circulating amino acid availability, synergistically up‐regulates the mTOR signaling pathway in ...

Effect of Cricket Meal (Gryllus bimaculatus) on Production and Physical Quality of Japanese Quail Egg

open access: yesTropical Animal Science Journal, 2019
Feed cost contributes 80% of the total cost of production in quails. The utilization of cricket meal as a protein source can be a solution to reduce feed costs.

From Grain to Feed [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Horse beans are used as an example of grain, which have potentials to substitute fish meal in fish feed. After several grinding and fractionation steps it was possible to obtain a protein-rich horse bean fraction with a yield of 19 %.

Volatility analysis and forecasting of vegetable prices using an ARMA‐GARCH model: An application of the CF filter and seasonal adjustment method to Korean green onions

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract The vegetable market experiences significant price fluctuations due to the complex interplay of trend, cyclical, seasonal, and irregular factors. This study takes Korean green onions as an example and employs the Christiano–Fitzgerald filter and the CensusX‐13 seasonal adjustment methods to decompose its price into four components: trend ...

Are all meats substitutes? A basket‐and‐expenditure‐based approach

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines the relationship among animal‐based meat and plant‐based meat alternatives (PBMAs) using a basket‐and‐expenditure‐based choice experiment. In particular, we examine whether animal‐based meat products are substitutes or complements with PBMAs.

Staging an Experience of Cultural Heritage Preservation: Consumers' Willingness to Pay for Heirloom Rice in the Philippines

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Cordillera Administrative Region in the Philippines is home to terraced rice embedded in centuries of cultural heritage. However, weak market incentives threaten sustained production, jeopardizing indigenous communities' cultural heritage and the in situ biodiversity of rice genetic resources.
