Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Processing Fish: Nigeria

open access: yes, 1999
Artisanal fishing in Africa, historically dominated by fishermen in canoes and boats who set out to sea from small coastal fishing villages in search of bonga, sardinella and other pelagic fish, has provided a nutritious source of food often cheaper than meat. As a result, fish has been consumed by large portions of the population and has become a diet

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

The Influence of the Extract Obtained from Giant Red Shrimp Aristaeomorpha foliacea Shells on Chemical Properties of Cold-Stored Anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences, 2017
This study aims to determine the effects of extract obtained from giant red shrimp Aristaeomorpha foliacea shells on the changes in chemical parameters of anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus during 18 days of refrigerated storage. Butylated hydroxytoluene

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Claw-clamping Type Fishing Bit and Fishing Process

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2020
In view of the problems that tap fishing is not easy to make buckles, and sleeve milling fishing in the fishing of deep hole, complex track hole and down hole cannot stick the broken drill pipe in the hole, etc., two kinds of claw-clamping type fishing bits are designed. In this paper, the structure and characteristics of claw-clamping type fishing bit

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.
