Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Nature-based solutions to freshwater fisheries: challenges and opportunities for their application in Ethiopian fisheries management

open access: yesFisheries and Aquatic Sciences
Nature-based solutions are a new approach to protecting and restoring ecosystems and are crucial for maintaining fish and sustaining fisheries. This review focuses on the potential role of Nature-based solutions in freshwater fisheries management and ...

Spatio-temporal declines in Philippine fisheries and its implications to coastal municipal fishers’ catch and income

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2016
The problem of overexploitation in global fisheries is well-recognized. However, published assessment of fisheries spatio-temporal trends at the national scale is lacking for many high biodiversity developing countries, which is problematic since ...

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Social-ecological system network connectivity model on potential areas of other effective area-based conservation measures for fisheries in Kolono Bay [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
This study aims to map the components of the social-ecological system (SES) in Kolono Bay based on the criteria of Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECM) Fisheries and identify key connectivity in its management. The approach used is SES

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Snapper and grouper fisheries management in Aisandami using the EAFM approach [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
The coastal waters of Aisandami are rich in diverse coral fish resources, including snappers and groupers. A study is needed to evaluate how fisheries are managed in water.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
