Structural and mechanistic basis for the regulation of the chloroplast signal recognition particle by (p)ppGpp

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LHCPs are transported to the thylakoid membrane via the (cp)SRP pathway. This process involves a transit complex of (cp)SRP43, (cp)SRP54 and LHCP, which interacts with (cp)FtsY and Alb3 at the membrane. GTP hydrolysis by (cp)SRP54 and (cp)FtsY triggers complex dissociation.

The stabilizing role of fish population structure under the influence of fishery and random environment variations [PDF]

open access: yesКомпьютерные исследования и моделирование, 2017
We study the influence of fishery on a structured fish population under random changes of habitat conditions. The population parameters correspond to dominant pelagic fish species of Far-Eastern seas of the northwestern part of the Pacific Ocean (pollack,

Bioeconomic analysis of harvesting within a predator-prey system: A case study in the Chesapeake Bay fisheries [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Sustainable use of biological resources is very important as over exploitation on the long run may lead to stock depletion, which in turn may threaten biodiversity. The Chesapeake Bay is an extremely complex ecosystem, and sustainable harvesting of its fisheries is essential both for the ecosystem's biodiversity and economic prosperity of the area ...

Practical suggestions for the commercialisation of fishery production in Ondo State [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The paper examines the fisheries resources and activities in Ondo State, Nigeria. As a result of the geographical advantage via location along the Atlantic coast the potentials and constraints of coastal artisanal fisheries in Ondo State are assessed ...

Distinct dysregulated pathways in sporadic and Lynch syndrome‐associated colorectal cancer offer insights for targeted treatment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study explores the distinct molecular mechanisms underlying Lynch syndrome‐associated and sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC). By highlighting the therapeutic potential of targeting the PI3K‐Akt pathway in Lynch syndrome‐associated CRC and the Wnt pathway in sporadic CRC, the findings open avenues for personalised treatment strategies, aiming to ...

Evaluating the sustainability of a de facto harvest strategy for British Columbia's Spot Prawn (Pandalus platyceros) fishery in the presence of environmental drivers of recruitment and hyperstable catch rates [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The Spot Prawn trap fishery off the west coast of British Columbia (BC) is managed using a fixed escapement strategy that aims to prevent recruitment overfishing while maximizing expected long-term yield by closing the fishery when the catch rate of spawners, projected to the following spring, drops below 1.7 spawners per trap (the de jure rule).

An Evaluation of the Sustainability of Global Tuna Stocks Relative to Marine Stewardship Council Criteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has established a program whereby a fishery may be certified as being sustainable. The sustainability of a fishery is defined by MSC criteria which are embodied in three Principles: relating to the status of the stock,

Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...

Food Safety, Fish and Listeriosis

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, 2019
Listeria monocytogenes is a food pathogen responsible for listeriosis, a relevant disease in public health worldwide. The genus Listeria spp., corresponds to cosmopolitan bacteria and capable of surviving different adverse conditions, which increases the
