Further Notes on Fishing Mortality and Effort
Copeia, 1944ECENTLY Dr. Milner B. Schaeffer (1943) has made a contribution to our knowledge concerning the relationship between fishing effort and fish mortality. His results lead him to suggest that parts of the writer's 1940 paper, on the same general topic, stand in need of revision.

Evaluating Fish Biodiversity and Fishing Effort in the Lidder River, Kashmir
UTTAR PRADESH JOURNAL OF ZOOLOGYThe study aimed to assess fish diversity and catch per unit effort (CPUE) in the Lidder River, an important tributary of the Jhelum River in Kashmir. Six fish species belonging to Cyprinidae, Sisoridae, Balitoridae, and Salmonidae were identified. Schizothorax plagiostomus, S. esocinus, and S. labiatus represent the family Cyprinidae.; Balitoridaeis is

Abstract A time‐series regression analysis of data from 1975 to 1995 showed no statistically significant relationship between number of catchable or subcatchable coldwater fish stocked and number of resident and nonresident season licenses sold. Stocking of warmwater subcatchables was a significant determinant of resident season license sales, although

The Effect of Reduction of Fishing Effort on Yield
Journal of the Fisheries Research Board of Canada, 1962When a fish population has been depleted by heavy exploitation, with the yield from the population maintaining an unfavourable level, it is usual to expect that the situation will be improved by reduction of fishing effort. Following a sudden reduction of fishing mortality, p, from p1 to p2 at time τ = 0, the yield at once decreases and then increases

Dynamics of Fishing Gear and Spatial Allocation of Fishing Effort in a Multispecies Fleet
North American Journal of Fisheries Management, 2010Abstract Optimization of fishing effort allocation and efficient deployment of fishing gear are necessary for successful management of multispecies fisheries. Campeche Bank, located in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, provides an opportunity to understand fishing effort and fishing gear dynamics through the analysis of the fishing ...

DISPAS: An Agent-Based Tool for the Management of Fishing Effort
2014We introduce DISPAS, Demersal fIsh Stock Probabilistic Agent-based Simulator, with the aim of helping to investigate and understand sustainability in the exploitation of fishery resources. The simulator has capabilities for exploring different fishing scenarios, focusing on the case study of the common sole (Solea solea) stock in the Northern Adriatic ...

Linking fishing effort and fishing mortality in a mixed-fisheries context
No abstracts are to be cited without prior reference to the author. The scope of this paper is to identify, for a wide selection of fleets, fisheries and stocks, the elements of fishing effort that can be attributed to fishing tactics and strategies, and to evaluate the benefits of using adjusted definitions of fishing effort.Marchal, Paul +9 more
