Cardiovascular fitness in a selected group of dentists
The Journal of Sports Medicine, 1975Thirty-three dentists were studied as part of an exercise rehabititation clinic in order to evaluate their cardiovascular capacity and coronary prone risk factors Measure ments were made of their physical work capacity, predicted maximal oxygen up take, fatness, serum lipids and uric acid levels, pulmonary peak flow rates and personality Type A or B ...

On the Fitting height of a finite group
Journal of Group Theory, 2010This note contains a slick proof, based on a concept introduced by \textit{A. Turull} [J. Algebra 86, 555-566 (1984; Zbl 0526.20017)] of the following Theorem: A finite group is solvable with Fitting height at most \(h\) if and only if every pair of conjugate elements generates a solvable subgroup whose Fitting height is at most \(h\).

Fitting functors and radicals of finite groups
Siberian Mathematical Journal, 2011If \(\mathfrak X\) is a class of groups, then a map \(f\) that assigns to each group \(G\) of the class \(\mathfrak X\) a nonempty system of its subgroups \(f(G)\) is said to be a subgroup \(\mathfrak X\)-functor if \(\alpha(f(G))=f(\alpha(G))\) for every isomorphism \(\alpha\) of \(G\).

AbstractDespite the wide use of groups in organizations, research on individuals’ experiences of fit in their work groups has lagged due to lack of conceptual clarity of person–group (PG) fit and inconsistent measurement. To rectify these issues, we present an integrative definition of PG fit, which incorporates social‐ and task‐related elements of ...

Abstract This chapter discusses how prospective fighters choose a group to join and why (and when) some choose to switch groups. While the decision to take up arms is based on a person’s individual grievances, the decision to join a particular group is made rationally by comparing different groups fighting for the same goal based on ...

Fitting cores and supersolvable groups
Ricerche di Matematica, 2010Let A be a group. What can be said about the group B to ensure that A and the normal product AB belong to the same prescribed class of groups? Results in this direction are given for the classes of supersolvable groups, absolutely solvable groups and Lagrange groups.

Social Components of Fitness in Primate Groups
Science, 2007There is much interest in the evolutionary forces that favored the evolution of large brains in the primate order. The social brain hypothesis posits that selection has favored larger brains and more complex cognitive capacities as a means to cope with the challenges of social life.

A family of Fitting classes of supersoluble groups
Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 1995A class of groups that is closed with respect to subnormal subgroups and normal products is called a Fitting class. Given a finite soluble group G, one may ask for the Fitting class (G) generated by G, that is the intersection of all Fitting classes containing G.

Integrating the levels of person-environment fit: The roles of vocational fit and group fit
Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2009Abstract Previous research on fit has largely focused on person-organization (P-O) fit and person-job (P-J) fit. However, little research has examined the interplay of person-vocation (P-V) fit and person-group (P-G) fit with P-O fit and P-J fit in the same study.
