Foundational Machine‐Learning Interatomic Potential for Simulating Chemically Complex Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We apply a foundational machine‐learning interatomic potential based on the graph atomic cluster expansion (GRACE) to simulate the commercial Ni‐based single‐crystal superalloy CMSX‐4. Hybrid Monte‐Carlo/molecular dynamics sampling resolves short‐range order in the γ phase and L12 sublattice occupancies in the γ’ phase and connects them to stacking ...

Identification of Geometric Deviations Using Simultaneous Five-axis Control Technique in Five-axis Machining Centers with Double Pivot Spindle Head

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 2006
This study was conducted for developing the testing methods by means of simultaneous five-axis motion in five-axis controlled machining centers with a double pivot spindle head. In this paper, the five axis motion was simulated considering the measurement by a ball bar system and the relative distance change between both balls of the table side and the

Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

NX CAM post processing errors: Machine data file generator vs. post builder [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2016
Replacing or upgrading software packages requires a detailed analysis and testing. This is especially important for software modules that are part of the production process.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Investigation of Force-Controlled Polishing of Complex Curved PMMA Parts on a Machining Center

open access: yesMachines
During the polishing process of complex curved PMMA parts, the polishing force is an important factor affecting the surface quality and optical performance. In this paper, a force-controlled polishing device integrated into a machining center to maintain

Milling Force Prediction Based on Spindle Current Signal

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Spindle-current-based force estimation provides a nonintrusive alternative to dynamometer-based milling-force measurement, but its accuracy is limited by the nonlinear and time-dependent relationship between spindle current and cutting force.
