Prediction of cutting force in five-axis flat-end milling

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2018
Milling force, closely related to machining efficiency and machining quality, is the most important technical parameter in computer numerical control machining. Aiming at five-axis flat-end milling, this paper proposes a milling force prediction model with arbitrary feed direction and cutter workpiece engagement (CWE).

Surface normal interpolation for five axis CNC milling

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2015
This paper presents an algorithm for five-axis CNC interpolation. The algorithm generates cutter location points by interpolating the surface normals along a desired path. The surface normals are represented by line coordinates which tie a orientation vector with a specific point in space.

ICSPEA

Proceedings of the 9th annual conference on Genetic and evolutionary computation, 2007
ICSPEA is a novel multi-objective evolutionary algorithm which integrates aspects from the powerful variation operators of the Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy (CMA-ES) and the well proven multi-objective Strength Pareto Evaluation Scheme of the SPEA 2. The CMA-ES has already shown excellent performance on various kinds of complex single-

High-speed five-axis milling of hardened tool steel

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2000
This paper investigates critical issues related to high-speed five-axis milling of hardened D2 tool steel (hardness HRc 63). A forging die cavity was designed to represent the typical features in dies and molds and to simulate several effects resulting from complex tool path generation.

Dynamics and Stability Prediction of Five-Axis Flat-End Milling

Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 2017
The tool orientation of a flat-end cutter, determined by the lead and tilt angles of the cutter, can be optimized to increase the machining strip width. However, few studies focus on the effects of tool orientation on the five-axis milling process stability with flat-end cutters.

Modeling and Simulation of Five-Axis Milling Machine Based on ADAMS

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
A method for motion control and analysis of five-axis milling machine was proposed by means of simulation. The method started from solid modeling of five-axis milling machine in PRO/E, and then imported the model into ADAMS, generating its own solid model, through seamless interface software Mechanism/Pro 2005.

SIMULATION CONCEPT FOR PREDICTING WORKPIECE VIBRATIONS IN FIVE-AXIS MILLING

Machining Science and Technology, 2009
The characteristic discontinuous cut of the milling process influences the whole machining process by an increased susceptibility to vibrations of the machine-tool-workpiece system.

Five-Axis Flank Milling of Sculptured Surface with Barrel Cutters

Key Engineering Materials, 2009
A flank milling tool positioning method using a barrel cutter is proposed. An offset point is used as the first anchor point. Two rotary angles of the barrel cutter are adjusted to find the optimized tool position with the largest machining strip width.

Optimization and correction of the tool path of the five-axis milling machine

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 2007
We introduce three algorithms for optimization of a tool path of a numerically controlled five-axis milling machine. The unifying idea is a flexible geometric structure which adapts itself to a certain cost function defined on the required part surface.

Manufacturing of injection moulding tool with five axis milling machine

2013
The main intention of this paper is to show the advanced technology for production of the electrode for EDM that has a relatively complex geometry. Five axes CNC machining centre is used for production of an example ice scrapers since application of other type of machine requires a lot of auxiliary time and resources.
