Friend, Not Foe: Lowered Tissue Reactivity to Long‐Term Polyimide Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The choice of optimal neural probe designs remains a major challenge in the field of neurotechnology. This study investigated the biocompatibility of several probe variations, including material, thickness, width, and implantation strategy. It highlights the clear advantage of soft polyimide probes over stiff silicon probes for better device ...

A Four-Switch Five-Level Inverter

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2021
This article introduces a new single-phase five-level inverter with reduced switch count, composed by a coupled-inductor, four switches, and two diodes. Its detailed analysis is provided, including a space-vector pulsewidth modulation strategy and design of its components. Compared with the conventional three-level neutral-point clamped (NPC) inverter,

A Five-Level Boosting Inverter for PV Application

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2021
Transformerless inverters (TIs) are widely used in grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) applications due to their higher efficiency and low cost. However, the absence of galvanic isolation leads to the flow of ground leakage current due to PV parasitics resulting in safety issues and deteriorated power quality.

Quasi Two-level Operation of a Five-level Inverter

2007 Compatibility in Power Electronics, 2007
In this paper a five-level inverter operational mode termed quasi two-level operation is proposed. The multilevel capacitors function in a soft clamping mode where capacitor voltage balancing is maintained by varying the transient dwell time at each level. Two balancing techniques are proposed.
