Hybrid five-level T-type inverter

IECON 2014 - 40th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2014
Multilevel inverters have proven to be a solid technology in electrical drive applications. A new voltage source multilevel converter topology, that is a hybrid between three-level flying capacitor and T-type inverters, is introduced. The proposed topology can produce live output voltage levels.

Power balancing in five level inverters

2013 12th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2013
This paper presents a unique control scheme for achieving power balancing in recently proposed multilevel inverter topologies. Moreover, this strategy can be extended to any type of topology and to any number of output levels of multilevel inverter (MLI).Comparisons have been made between the power delivered by sources in two different topologies with ...

A deterministic harmonics mitigation technique for five-level inverters

IECON 2014 - 40th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2014
A deterministic algorithm aiming at reduction of harmonic content in three phase, five-level cascaded inverters is proposed. The procedure starts from a non-linear system consisting of disequations and, using Chebyshev polynomials and Waring's formula, for any assigned modulation index computes those switching angles α 1 and α 2 reducing harmonics ...

A novel reduced switch single‐phase five‐level inverter

International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, 2022
AbstractConventional multilevel inverters (MLI) incorporate many independent dc sources and switches, which adds to the overall system's cost and complexity. This article presents a detailed analysis of a reduced switch single‐phase five‐level inverter for medium‐ and high‐power applications. The comparison of the proposed topology with traditional and

Five-Level Diode-Clamped Inverter With Three-Level Boost Converter

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2014
This paper proposes an active front-end solution to balance the dc-link capacitor voltage of the five-level diode-clamped inverter. Capacitor voltage balancing is performed by a three-level boost converter connected to the two inner capacitors of a five-level diode-clamped inverter and additional balancing circuits at the other two outer capacitors ...

The study of five-level inverters with the various PWM

2018 Moscow Workshop on Electronic and Networking Technologies (MWENT), 2018
The energy indicators of multilevel voltage converters are analyzed. The relevance of the research is indicated by the increasing demands of technological processes for the economic use of electric energy, the reduction in power consumed by semiconductor converters, and also to the level of regulated reactive power.

Harmonic elimination in a five level multilevel inverter

2016 International Conference on Computer Communication and Informatics (ICCCI), 2016
Multilevel inverters are popular for renewable energy applications. This paper presents a technique for harmonic elimination in a five level cascaded H-Bridge multilevel inverter. The technique is based on computation of switching angles using Chebyshev polynomials. The method involves simple mathematical calculations to arrive at the desired switching

A novel three-phase five-level inverter

2016 IEEE 8th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IPEMC-ECCE Asia), 2016
In this paper, a novel three-phase five-level inverter is proposed. The proposed topology constructed of 12 power switches and 12 diodes to achieve a three-phase five-level AC Y-connected output. The output line-to-line voltage is five levels and total harmonic distortion is lower.

Parallel-connected five-level PWM inverters

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2003
Multilevel PWM inverters have significant advantages over the conventional one because of the capability of operating the motor with nearly sinusoidal current waveforms and higher output voltages. In order to increase the power rating of the inverter, connection in parallel would be effective in the present case.
