Modeling and Simulation of Five Phase Induction Motor Fed with Five Phase Inverter Topologies

open access: yesIndian Journal of Science and Technology, 2015
Output total harmonic distortion of the five phase inverter topologies and corresponding dynamic performance of five phase induction motor are investigated in this paper. Four types of five phase inverter topologies are simulated by using direct pulse and sinusoidal pulse width modulation methods for the inverter control.

Modified SPWM Technique with Zero-Sequence Voltage Injection for a Five-Phase, Three-Level NPC Inverter

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
This article presents a modified sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (SPWM) scheme for a five-phase, three-level neutral-point-clamped inverter. The modulation scheme deploys a modified min–max function to inject the zero-sequence components into the ...

A new method of accurate broken rotor bar diagnosis based on modulation signal bispectrum analysis of motor current signals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Motor current signature analysis (MCSA) has been an effective way of monitoring electrical machines for many years. However, inadequate accuracy in diagnosing incipient broken rotor bars (BRB) has motivated many studies into improving this method.

FPGA‐based control strategy of five‐phase induction motor drives

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2022
Abstract Here, a novel control technique for Five‐Phase Induction Motor (FPIM) drives using a field‐programmable gate array (FPGA) controller is proposed. Open‐loop control is analysed in terms of the performance and measurement of various power quality factors, such as voltage harmonics, current harmonics, total ...

Vectorial formalism for analysis and design of polyphase synchronous machines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A vectorial formalism for analysis and design of polyphase synchronous machines without reluctance and saturation effects is described. We prove the equivalence of such a machine with a set of magnetically independent machines, which are electrically and

Behavior of a Pentacle Connected Five-Phase IM Supplied by a Rectangular Voltage

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2020
The presented article deals with the steady-state analysis of five-phase Induction Motor (IM), which is supplied by rectangular voltage from a five-leg Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). The new proposed approach is derived from complex Fourier-series using

Magnetic Potential Analysis of Five-Phase Induction Motor During Two Phase Fault

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020
Abstract The main research object of this paper is the change of magnetic potential produced by five-phase induction motor when it runs without two phase, the magnetic potential of five-phase Induction Motor which lacks two phases is compared with that of normal operation by using the method of synthetic current and the theory of double ...

Comparison of Induction and PM Synchronous motor drives for EV application including design examples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Three different motor drives for electric traction are compared, in terms of output power and efficiency at the same stack dimensions and inverter size. Induction motor (IM), surface-mounted permanent-magnet (PM) (SPM), and interior PM (IPM) synchronous ...
