Analysis of Path Distribution in Lapping and Polishing with Single Fixed Abrasive

Key Engineering Materials, 2013
The path distribution can directly affect the machined workpiece surface quality in lapping and polishing, such as planeness, roughness, etc. In present paper, the influence of rotate speed ratio (RSR) and abrasive position on path distribution was analyzed with a single fixed abrasive.

Modeling of Surface Roughness and Material Removal in Fixed-Abrasive Lapping of Optical Glass Considering Dynamic Profile Baseline

Journal of manufacturing science and engineering
Fixed-abrasive lapping has been widely applied in the precision machining of hard and brittle materials. Its well-controlled abrasive motion and dominant two-body removal mechanism enable superior surface quality.

High Speed Lapping of SiC Ceramic Material with Fixed Abrasive

Key Engineering Materials, 2007
An experimental investigation is carried out to machine SiC ceramic material through method of high speed plane lapping with fixed abrasive. The results show that the material removal mechanism and the surface roughness are chiefly related to the granularity of abrasive and the lapping pressure for the brittle materials such as SiC ceramic.

Groove Influence on Lapping Quartz Glass with Fixed Abrasive Pad

ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology
To improve the lapping efficiency and process stability of quartz glass, this paper investigated the lapping mechanism of raised abrasive pads (RAP). Two types of fixed abrasive pads (FAP)—raised and flat—were fabricated via UV curing for comparative lapping experiments, through which their underlying mechanisms were explored in ...

Investigation to Semi-Fixed Abrasives Plate Lapping SUS440 Stainless Steel

Advanced Materials Research, 2009
To obtain high surface quality and high finishing efficiency in machining SUS440 stainless steel, a novel machining technology employing a semi-fixed abrasive plate (SFAP) is adopted. The SFAP is developed for preventing lapped surface from damage caused by larger particles (from grain size dispersion or from outside of processing area, larger ...

Process Optimization of Lapping Sapphire Substrate with Fixed Diamond Abrasive Pad

Key Engineering Materials, 2016
The production cost of the sapphire substrate was restricted by the efficiency of processing and the surface quality. A proposed level orthogonal experiment was conducted to reveal the effect of workbench speed, lapping pressure, the Concentration of triethanolamine and abrasive pad types on the material removal rate and surface roughness and ...
