Searching for Light Dark Matter with Fixed Target Experiments

open access: yes, 2019
We consider a model of light (sub-GeV) dark matter that escapes many of the bounds placed by current dark matter searches. Such low mass dark matter candidates, if produced as a thermal relic in the early universe, must be accompanied by light mediators ...

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Expected sensitivity of the Light Dark Matter eXperiment to long-lived dark photons and axion-like particles

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX) is an electron-beam fixed-target experiment primarily designed to achieve world-leading, model-independent sensitivity to sub-GeV dark matter particles. LDMX aims to identify dark sector particle production through

Quarkonium Suppression from Coherent Energy Loss in Fixed-Target Experiments Using LHC Beams

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2015
Quarkonium production in proton-nucleus collisions is a powerful tool to disentangle cold nuclear matter effects. A model based on coherent energy loss is able to explain the available quarkonium suppression data in a broad range of rapidities, from ...

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

First constraints on the L μ − L τ explanation of the muon g-2 anomaly from NA64-e at CERN

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The inclusion of an additional U(1) gauge L μ − L τ symmetry would release the tension between the measured and the predicted value of the anomalous muon magnetic moment: this paradigm assumes the existence of a new, light Z′ vector boson, with dominant ...

Multipurpose particle detector for fixed-target experiments based on plastic scintillators and SiPMs (time resolution) [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Fixed-target experiments in nuclear and particle physics require robust, modular, and high-efficiency detection systems capable of accurately recording particle passage, time of arrival, and the information needed for trigger tasks.
