Product Scope and Reactivity in Hydrothermal Conversion of Polyethylene With Solid Catalysts

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
The addition of solid catalysts to the hydrothermal conversion of polyethylene increases the conversion and promotes the formation of naphtha‐like compounds when using CeO2, and aromatic compounds when using aluminosilicates. The reusability of these catalyst materials was demonstrated as they retained catalytic activity upon reuse.

Systemic Consequences of Chronic Ethanol Intake: From Microbiome Shifts to Metabolic Impairment

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 2, April 2026.
Chronic ethanol intake disrupts whole‐body homeostasis by reducing energy intake and body mass, impairing physical function, and reshaping the gut microbiome. Microbiota shifts and depletion of short‐chain fatty acids increase gut permeability and drive hepatic inflammation, dyslipidemia, and glucose intolerance.

Functional and Phylogenetic Implications of Canopy Mesophication in Temperate Hardwood Forests

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Mesophication describes the shifting of forests fire‐adapted systems to those dominated shaded‐adapted species, but the functional underpinnings of forest mesophication have received less quantitative testing. Using 20th century legacy datasets of changing forest composition in Wisconsin, USA, we characterized broad declines in drought tolerance, fire ...

Adaptive Calculation Method of Line Loss of Distribution Network Based on Genetic Algorithm and Artificial Neural Network

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
A GA‐BP neural network model with optimized preprocessing and clustering reduces line loss calculation errors and improves efficiency in distribution networks. ABSTRACT Traditional methods for calculating distribution line losses often rely on complex mathematical models and extensive operational data, leading to cumbersome processes that struggle to ...
