Fundamental approach to laminar flame propagation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1954
The complete system of equations for a theory of laminar flame equations is presented, taking into account both heat conduction and diffusion, for the case of an arbitrary number of simultaneous reactions.

Triple flames in mixing layers with nonunity Lewis numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The present paper is devoted to the study of the effects of nonunity Lewis numbers on triple-flame propagation in nonuniform mixtures. For definiteness, the case of a strained reactive mixing layer is considered. The fuel and oxidizer that are fed to the

Modeling turbulent flame propagation [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium (International) on Combustion, 1994
Laser diagnostics and flow simulation techniques are now providing information that, if available 50 years ago, would have allowed Damkohler to show how turbulence generates flame area. In the absence of this information, many turbulent flame speed models have been created, most based on Kolmogorov concepts that ignore the turbulence vortical structure.

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...

Nonlinear equation for curved stationary flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A nonlinear equation describing curved stationary flames with arbitrary gas expansion $\theta = \rho_{{\rm fuel}}/\rho_{{\rm burnt}}$, subject to the Landau-Darrieus instability, is obtained in a closed form without an assumption of weak nonlinearity. It

Cinnamic‐Hydroxamic‐Acid Derivatives Exhibit Antibiotic, Anti‐Biofilm, and Supercoiling Relaxation Properties by Targeting Bacterial Nucleoid‐Associated Protein HU

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.

Recent Advances in Mediator and Proton Relay Usage in Molecular Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The use of electron–proton transfer mediators, redox mediators, and proton relays in synergy with molecular catalysts in energy‐related small‐molecule and organic transformations is discussed, with a focus on recent advances. Linear free‐energy relationship and catalytic Tafel plots provide a systematic foundation for benchmarking these catalytic ...

The Cellular Burning Regime in Type Ia Supernova Explosions - I. Flame Propagation into Quiescent Fuel

open access: yes, 2003
We present a numerical investigation of the cellular burning regime in Type Ia supernova explosions. This regime holds at small scales (i.e. below the Gibson scale), which are unresolved in large-scale Type Ia supernova simulations.

Superelastic High‐Entropy Oxide Ceramic Aerogels for Thermal Superinsulation and Sealing at Extreme Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A high‐entropy oxide ceramic of (Gd1/2Lu1/2)2(Ti1/3Zr1/3Hf1/3)2O7 is prepared through a molecular synthesis route of pyrolytic solid‐solution reactions. The architectured nanofiber aerogel manifests unprecedented thermomechanical properties, including superelastic compressibility of 98% from −196 to 1500 °C, and thermal superinsulation capacity (24.14 ...
