Prediction of hydrogen flame propagation in a channel with exit contraction [PDF]
The propagation of a flame front in a homogeneous and initially quiescent hydrogen-air mixture in a channel with exit contraction is numerically analyzed by means of Computational Fluid Dynamics.

Expansion Coefficients and Propagation Speeds of Premixed n-Butane–Air Flames
The propagation speeds of premixed n-butane–air mixtures (2.0–5.7 vol%) were investigated under various initial conditions (pressures of 0.4–1.2 bar; temperatures of 289–500 K). The study consists of both, experimental measurements using two different enclosures (a sphere and a cylinder) and kinetic modeling via a dedicated computing program.

Effects of heat release on triple flames [PDF]
Heat release effects on laminar flame propagation in partially premixed flows are studied. Data for analysis are obtained from direct numerical simulations of a laminar mixing layer with a uniformly approaching velocity field.

Effects of mixture fraction on edge-flame propagation speeds [PDF]
Abstract The propagation speeds (Uedge) of nonpremixed edge-flames were measured as a function of stoichiometric mixture fraction (Zst) and global strain rate (σ) for several fuel/oxidant/diluent combinations using a counterflow slot-jet burner. It was found that for fuel Lewis number (Lef) ≈ 1 and oxidant Lewis number (Leo) ≈ 1 with fixed σ, Uedge ...

Study on Influence of Cavity and Water Mist on Flame Propagation of Gas Explosion in a Pipeline
For studying the influence of the cavity and water mist on the flame propagation of gas explosion, a rectangular steel cavity of size of length 80 cm×width 50 cm×height 20 cm was designed.

Small-scale Interaction of Turbulence with Thermonuclear Flames in Type Ia Supernovae [PDF]
Microscopic turbulence-flame interactions of thermonuclear fusion flames occuring in Type Ia Supernovae were studied by means of incompressible direct numerical simulations with a highly simplified flame description.

Flame Propagation on the Surfaces of Rapidly Rotating Neutron Stars during Type I X-ray Bursts [PDF]
We present the first vertically resolved hydrodynamic simulations of a laterally propagating, deflagrating flame in the thin helium ocean of a rotating accreting neutron star.

Turbulent flame propagation and combustion in spark ignition engines [PDF]
Pressure measurements synchronized with high-speed motion picture records of flame propagation have been made in a transparent piston engine. The data show that the initial expansion speed of the flame front is close to that of a laminar flame.
