Flame Stabilization and Blow-Off of Ultra-Lean H2-Air Premixed Flames
The manner in which an ultra-lean hydrogen flame stabilizes and blows off is crucial for the understanding and design of safe and efficient combustion devices.

Experimental Study of Stretched Premixed Flame Stabilized in a Flat Channel near a Heated Wall
In this work, the behavior of a lean premixed stretched flame stabilized in a flat channel near a heated wall was studied. Dependences of the flame front position on the stretch rate parameter at temperatures of the heated wall of 1000 and 1200 K and the

The Effects of Flame Stretch on Outwardly Propagating Flames
The effects of flame stretch on an outwardly propagating flame are considered experimentally for both laminar and turbulent flames. Although the thermo-diffusive mechanism caused by the flame/stretch interaction is well known for laminar flames or for weakly stretched flames, recent studies have shown that it influences the local and global flame ...

A Mass-Based Definition of Flame Stretch for Flames with Finite Thickness
The flame stretch concept is extended for the case of 3D instationary flames with finite flame front thickness. It is shown that additional contributions to the stretch rate appear apart from the terms which are usually used in flame studies. These extra terms are associated with variations in the mass density along the flame iso-contours and with ...

INVESTIGATION OF FLAME STRETCH IN TURBULENT LIFTED JET FLAME [PDF]
DNS data of a laboratory-scale turbulent lifted hydrogen jet flame has been analyzed to show that this flame has mixed mode combustion not only at the flame base but also in downstream locations. The mixed mode combustion is observed in instantaneous structures as in earlier studies and in averaged structure, in which the predominant mode is found to ...

Flame stretching by electric field
Abstract The paper considers the issues related to the study of the mechanisms of controlling the combustion of hydrocarbon fuels by electric fields. It is shown that influence of weak electric field on combustion in laminar mode leads to a change in the degree of flame stretching (Karlovitz number).

On the determination of laminar flame speeds from stretched flames [PDF]
The effects of stretch on the determination of the laminar flame speed are experimentally studied by using the positively-stretched stagnation flame and negatively-stretched bunsen flame, and by using lean and rich mixtures of methane, propane, butane, and hydrogen with air whose effective Lewis numbers are either greater or less than unity.
