Validation of an EGSnrc Monte Carlo Model of a 10 MV Photon Beam for Varian Clinac iX Linac, Including Flattening and Flattening-Free Modes

open access: yesQuantum Beam Science
Modelling of linear accelerators using the Monte Carlo method is critical for precise radiotherapy planning. In addition, detailed and accurate dose estimation to the organ at risk can be assessed and optimized. In this study, EGSnrc Monte Carlo code was

[P278] The use of flattening filter free irradiation mode in normo-fractionated treatments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose The aim of this study was to identify general advantages and disadvantages of the flattening filter free irradiation mode in normo-fractionated intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT).

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Feasibility of portal dosimetry for flattening filter‐free radiotherapy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, 2016
The feasibility of using portal dosimetry (PD) to verify 6 MV flattening filter‐free (FFF) IMRT treatments was investigated. An Elekta Synergy linear accelerator with an Agility collimator capable of delivering FFF beams and a standard iViewGT amorphous silicon (aSi) EPID panel (RID 1640 AL5P) at a fixed SSD of 160 cm were used.

Ontology‐Aligned Structuring and Reuse of Multimodal Materials Data and Workflows Toward Automatic Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Reproduction of stacking fault energy calculations from literature with a semi‐automated large language model‐assisted extraction procedure: extraction of simulation protocol, atomistic structures, computational parameters, and reported results, ontology alignment, knowledge graph construction and, finally, recomputation forvalidation.

Monte Carlo study on nanogold dose enhancement for breast radiotherapy using an ICRP female computational phantom

open access: yesJournal of Taibah University for Science
Due to distinct photoelectric absorption properties and physiochemical features, high-atomic-element nanomaterials are frequently used as radiosensitizer for radiotherapy, such as gold nanoparticles.

The effect of prostate motion during hypofractionated radiotherapy can be reduced by using flattening filter free beams

open access: yesPhysics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology, 2018
Background and purpose: Hypofractionated radiotherapy of prostate cancer reduces the overall treatment time but increases the per-fraction beam-on time due to the higher fraction doses.

Acceptable fetal dose using flattening filter-free volumetric arc therapy (FFF VMAT) in postoperative chemoradiotherapy of tongue cancer during pregnancy

open access: yesClinical and Translational Radiation Oncology, 2020
Optimizing irradiation protocols for pregnant women is challenging, because there are few cases and a dearth of fetal dosimetry data. We cared for a 36-year-old pregnant woman with tongue cancer.

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...
