Flavobacterium restrictum sp. nov., Flavobacterium rhamnosiphilum sp. nov., and Flavobacterium zepuense sp. nov. isolated from glaciers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2020
Three strains, designated as LB1R34T, LB3P52T and ZT4R6T, were isolated from glaciers located on the Tibetan Plateau, PR China. The strains were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped, non-motile and yellow. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene and genomic sequences indicated that they were related to the members of the genus

Flavobacterium compostarboris sp. nov., isolated from leaf-and-branch compost, and emended descriptions of Flavobacterium hercynium, Flavobacterium resistens and Flavobacterium johnsoniae.

International journal of systematic and evolutionary microbiology, 2012
A strictly aerobic, Gram-negative, yellow-pigmented, non-spore-forming rod, designated 15C3(T), was isolated from aerobic leaf-and-branch compost at EXPO Park in Osaka, Japan. Growth was observed at 9-33 °C (optimum 25 °C) and pH 5.6-7.9 (optimum pH 6.1-7.0). No growth occurred with >2% (w/v) NaCl.

Flavobacterium indologenes Keratitis

Ophthalmologica, 2010
Flavobacterium indologenes has recently been implicated in nosocomial or opportunistic infection. It has been isolated from lids, conjunctiva, and lacrimal system, and is resistant to most antibiotics. No previous cases of F. indologenes corneal ulcer have been reported in the literature.

Description of Flavobacterium fructosi sp. nov., Flavobacterium xylosi sp. nov. and Flavobacterium zhouii sp. nov., three new members of the genus Flavobacterium

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology
Three novel strains, designated LB3P45T, LS2P90T and ZS1P70T, were isolated from glaciers located on the Tibetan Plateau, PR China. These strains were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped and yellow or orange coloured. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene and genomic sequences indicated that they belong to the genus Flavobacterium.

Laboratory Maintenance of Flavobacterium psychrophilum and Flavobacterium columnare

Current Protocols in Microbiology, 2007
AbstractBacteria in the genus Flavobacterium are highly heterogeneous and are comprised of pathogenic and non‐pathogenic species. They are found in a wide variety of environments that include fresh and marine water, soil, and ocean sediments. This unit focuses on laboratory maintenance of two important fish pathogens within this genus.

A comparison of strains of King's group IIb of Flavobacterium with Flavobacterium meningosepticum

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 1974
Twenty-two strains of Flavobacterium recently isolated from patients and other sources were compared with 6 strains of Flavobacterium meningosepticum and 3 strains of King's Flavobacterium group IIb. The field strains were found to resemble group IIb in their characteristics. All 31 strains of Flavobacterium gave similar results in 28 phenotypic tests;

Multiplex PCR for genotyping Flavobacterium columnare.

Journal of Fish Diseases, 2019
Recent research has identified four distinct genetic groups among isolates of Flavobacterium columnare through multilocus phylogenetic analyses; however, there are no quick methods to determine the genotype of an isolate.

Flavobacterium circumlabens sp. nov. and Flavobacterium cupreum sp. nov., two psychrotrophic species isolated from Antarctic environmental samples.

Systematic and Applied Microbiology, 2019
A taxonomic study of 24 Gram-stain-negative rod-shaped bacteria originating from the Antarctic environment is described. Phylogenetic analysis using 16S rRNA gene sequencing differentiated isolated strains into two groups belonging to the genus ...

Flavobacterium tilapiae sp. nov., isolated from a freshwater pond, and emended descriptions of Flavobacterium defluvii and Flavobacterium johnsoniae

International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2013
A bacterial strain, designated Ruye-71T, was isolated from a freshwater tilapiine cichlid fish culture pond in Taiwan and characterized in a taxonomic study using a polyphasic approach. Cells of strain Ruye-71T were Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic, yellow-pigmented rods that were motile by gliding. Growth occurred at 10–30 °C (optimum, 15–30 °C),

Flavobacterium group IIb bacteremia: report of a case and review of Flavobacterium infections

Medical Microbiology and Immunology, 1987
A case of nonfatal Flavobacterium CDC group IIb bacteremia in a hospitalized woman is presented. The portal of entry of the organism was either an intravenous line or an open, eroded wound associated with bilateral breast carcinoma. Flavobacterium infections in the post-neonatal age group are reviewed.
