The cellular fatty acid, sphingolipid, and isoprenoid quinone compositions of Flavobacterium odoratum, Flavobacterium breve, and Flavobacterium-like groups IIe, IIh, and IIf were determined, using thin-layer, gas-liquid, and reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography.

Two strains (T16Tand S12) of a Gram-reaction-negative, rod-shaped, yellow-pigmented bacterium were recovered from kidneys of feral spawning adult Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) and the gills of captive-reared Chinook salmon fingerlings suffering a mortality episode, respectively.

A strictly aerobic, Gram-staining-negative, rod-shaped, non-motile, yellow-pigmented bacterial strain, designated BX12T, was isolated from soil collected from the peak area of Wudang Mountain in the city of Shiyan, Hubei province, China. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain BX12T was most closely related to

A strictly aerobic, Gram-negative, yellow-pigmented, non-spore-forming rod, designated 15C3T, was isolated from aerobic leaf-and-branch compost at EXPO Park in Osaka, Japan. Growth was observed at 9–33 °C (optimum 25 °C) and pH 5.6–7.9 (optimum pH 6.1–7.0). No growth occurred with >2 % (w/v) NaCl.

Three strains, designated as LB1R34T, LB3P52T and ZT4R6T, were isolated from glaciers located on the Tibetan Plateau, PR China. The strains were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped, non-motile and yellow. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene and genomic sequences indicated that they were related to the members of the genus

Laboratory Maintenance of Flavobacterium psychrophilum and Flavobacterium columnare
Current Protocols in Microbiology, 2007AbstractBacteria in the genus Flavobacterium are highly heterogeneous and are comprised of pathogenic and non‐pathogenic species. They are found in a wide variety of environments that include fresh and marine water, soil, and ocean sediments. This unit focuses on laboratory maintenance of two important fish pathogens within this genus.

A comparison of strains of King's group IIb of Flavobacterium with Flavobacterium meningosepticum
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 1974Twenty-two strains of Flavobacterium recently isolated from patients and other sources were compared with 6 strains of Flavobacterium meningosepticum and 3 strains of King's Flavobacterium group IIb. The field strains were found to resemble group IIb in their characteristics. All 31 strains of Flavobacterium gave similar results in 28 phenotypic tests;

A bacterial strain, designated Ruye-71T, was isolated from a freshwater tilapiine cichlid fish culture pond in Taiwan and characterized in a taxonomic study using a polyphasic approach. Cells of strain Ruye-71T were Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic, yellow-pigmented rods that were motile by gliding. Growth occurred at 10–30 °C (optimum, 15–30 °C),

Flavobacterium group IIb bacteremia: report of a case and review of Flavobacterium infections
Medical Microbiology and Immunology, 1987A case of nonfatal Flavobacterium CDC group IIb bacteremia in a hospitalized woman is presented. The portal of entry of the organism was either an intravenous line or an open, eroded wound associated with bilateral breast carcinoma. Flavobacterium infections in the post-neonatal age group are reviewed.
