DNA macromutant identified as flavobacterium total lack of immunologic relationship to flavobacterium

Mutation Research, 1971
Abstract A mutant with altered DNA base composition has been identified as a Flavobacterium. Studies have shown that DNA from this presumed mutant has 37% homology with DNA from Flavobacterium arborescens (ATCC 4358). This study reveals that there is no immunologic relationship between the macromutant and the Flavobacterium species with which it ...

Flavobacterium breve meningitis in a dog

Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association, 1997
An unusual, gram-negative rod was isolated in significant numbers (4+) from the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of a dog. This isolate, Flavobacterium breve, has not been identified previously as a pathogen in the dog. The case and the characteristics of the organism are described.

Flavobacterium hauense sp. nov., isolated from soil and emended descriptions of Flavobacterium subsaxonicum, Flavobacterium beibuense and Flavobacterium rivuli.

International journal of systematic and evolutionary microbiology, 2014
A strictly aerobic, Gram-staining-negative, rod-shaped, non-motile, yellow-pigmented bacterial strain, designated BX12(T), was isolated from soil collected from the peak area of Wudang Mountain in the city of Shiyan, Hubei province, China. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain BX12(T) was most closely related to ...

The carotenoids of Flavobacterium strain R1560

Archives of Microbiology, 1977
The main carotenoid of Flavobacterium strain R1560 has been identified as (3R,3'R)-zeaxanthin. Also present were small amounts of 15-cis-phytoene, phytofluene, "zeta-carotene" (7,8,7',8'-tetrahydro-psi, psi-carotene plus 7,8,11,12-tetrahydro-psi, psi-carotene), neurosporene, lycopene, beta-zeacarotene, gamma-carotene, beta-carotene, beta-cryptoxanthin,

Flavobacterium meningosepticum in the Neonatal Period

Southern Medical Journal, 1981
We have described a term newborn infant who developed Flavobacterium meningosepticum meningitis at 9 days of age. The case demonstrates the tenacity and changing antibiotic sensitivity of this organism. We used trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim) intravenously to obtain CSF sterilization. On follow-up this child was neurologically intact.

Biodegradation of 1,4-dioxane by a Flavobacterium

Biodegradation, 2010
A dioxane-degrading consortium was enriched from soil obtained from a contaminated groundwater plume. The enriched consortium did not use dioxane as the sole source of carbon and energy but co-metabolized dioxane in the presence of tetrahydrofuran (THF).

A SURVEY OF FLAVOBACTERIUM

2023
The survey of Flavobacterium is a general review of the origins of the genus and of its taxonomic development in the various editions of Bergey's Manual. Brief consideration is given to the chemistry of the pigments which have been studied.

The Genera Flavobacterium, Sphingobacterium and Weeksella

1992
The name Flavobacterium was proposed in 1923 for a genus of the family Bacteriaceae, encompassing the rod-shaped, nonendosporeforming, chemoorganotrophic bacteria (Bergey et al., 1923). Most of the pigmented bacteria of the family were segregated in the tribe Chromobactereae, which contained four genera of aerobic bacteria separated from each other by ...
