Characterisation of flavodoxin NADP+ oxidoreductase and flavodoxin; key components of electron transfer in Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1998
The genes encoding the Escherichia coli flavodoxin NADP+ oxidoreductase (FLDR) and flavodoxin (FLD) have been overexpressed in E. coli as the major cell proteins (at least 13.5 % and 11.4 % of total soluble protein, respectively) and the gene products purified to homogeneity.

Studies on flavin binding in flavodoxins [PDF]

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1971
Abstract 1. 1. Stable apoproteins have been prepared from Peptostreptococcus elsdenii, C. pasteurianum and Clostridium MP flavodoxins by dialysis of the native proteins against 2 M KBr at pH 3.9 and 3.10·10 −4 M EDTA. The apoproteins each bind 1 molecule of FMN to give complexes identical with the native flavodoxins. 2. 2.

A New Type of YumC-Like Ferredoxin (Flavodoxin) Reductase Is Involved in Ribonucleotide Reduction

open access: yesmBio, 2015
The trxB2 gene, which is annotated as a thioredoxin reductase, was found to be essential for growth of Lactococcus lactis in the presence of oxygen. The corresponding protein (TrxB2) showed a high similarity with Bacillus subtilis YumC (E value = 4.0E−88)

Ferroptosis-protective membrane domains in quiescence

open access: yesCell Reports, 2023
Summary: Quiescence is a common cellular state, required for stem cell maintenance and microorganismal survival under stress conditions or starvation. However, the mechanisms promoting quiescence maintenance remain poorly known.

Flavodoxin hydroquinone provides electrons for the ATP‐dependent reactivation of protein‐bound corrinoid cofactors

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, 2020
Corrinoid‐dependent enzyme systems rely on the super‐reduced state of the protein‐bound corrinoid cofactor to be functional, for example, in methyl transfer reactions.

Crystal structure of ChrR--a quinone reductase with the capacity to reduce chromate. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The Escherichia coli ChrR enzyme is an obligatory two-electron quinone reductase that has many applications, such as in chromate bioremediation. Its crystal structure, solved at 2.2 Å resolution, shows that it belongs to the flavodoxin superfamily in ...

Design, Synthesis, and Efficacy Testing of Nitroethylene- and 7-Nitrobenzoxadiazol-Based Flavodoxin Inhibitors against Helicobacter pylori Drug-Resistant Clinical Strains and in Helicobacter pylori-Infected Mice.

open access: yesJournal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2019
Helicobacter pylori ( Hp) infection is the main cause of peptic ulcer and gastric cancer. Hp eradication rates have fallen due to increasing bacterial resistance to currently used broad-spectrum antimicrobials.

Heterologous ferredoxin reductase and flavodoxin protect Cos-7 cells from oxidative stress. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BACKGROUND: Ferredoxin-NADP(H) reductase (FNR) from Pisum sativum and Flavodoxin (Fld) from Anabaena PCC 7119 have been reported to protect a variety of cells and organisms from oxidative insults.

OsFeSOD3 Functions as an Enzymatic Component of the PEP Complex, Bifunctionally Regulating Chloroplastic ROS Metabolism and Chloroplast Biogenesis in Rice

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chloroplasts are essential organelles responsible for photosynthesis, providing energy and metabolic intermediates required for plant growth and productivity. Chloroplast development is highly sensitive to environmental stresses such as drought, and this sensitivity is closely associated with growth inhibition and yield reduction under stress ...

A Heterodimeric Reduced-Ferredoxin-Dependent Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase from Syngas-Fermenting Clostridium ljungdahlii

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2021
The strict anaerobe Clostridium ljungdahlii can ferment CO or H2/CO2 via the Wood-Ljungdahl pathway to acetate, ethanol, and 2,3‐butanediol. This ability has attracted considerable interest, since it can be used for syngas fermentation to produce ...
