Highly Potent Fluorogenic Ligands for Triplex DNA: 5‐Substituted 2‐(Naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐Chromen‐4‐Ones

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
5‐Substituted 2‐(naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐chromen‐4‐ones are reported as a novel class of highly potent and selective triplex DNA ligands. These ligands induce triplex formation at submicromolar concentrations and inhibit enzymatic activity via ligand‐mediated triplex formation.

Protective Effects of Flavone from Tamarix aphylla against CCl4-Induced Liver Injury in Mice Mediated by Suppression of Oxidative Stress, Apoptosis and Angiogenesis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
The current study aimed to investigate, for the first time, the beneficial effects of 3,5-dihydroxy-4′,7-dimethoxyflavone isolated from Tamarix aphylla L. against liver injury in mice.

Buck Wheat: Nutritional, Bioactive Characteristics, Health Benefits, and Side Effects

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Micronutrient deficits have resulted from an over‐reliance on a small number of cereal crops for food security. The agricultural sector faces severe sustainability issues due to the rapid growth of the world's population and sudden climatic changes.

Comparative Analysis of Anti-Inflammatory Flavones in Chrysanthemum indicum Capitula Using Primary Cultured Rat Hepatocytes

open access: yesMolecules
The capitula of Chrysanthemum indicum Linné or C. morifolium Ramatuelle (Kikuka in Japanese) are included in several formulae of Kampo medicines (traditional Japanese medicines), such as Chotosan, which is used for headache and dizziness.

Fluorescence Analysis for Multi-Site Aluminum Binding to Natural Organic Matter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Natural organic matter (NOM) samples isolated from different water sources in Norway were compared using their fluorescence properties. Fluorescence surfaces were observed at pH 4.36 and deconvoluted using SIMPLISMA (Windig and Guilment 1991). There were

Microwave assisted synthesis of novel bis-flavone dimers as new anticancer agents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this study we describe a microwave based click chemistry method used to prepare a family of novel bis-flavone dimers. The substituted 7-hydroxy and 4’-hydroxy flavonoids were linked through a triazole ring.

Potential neuroprotective and therapeutic agents and their mechanisms for irradiation‐induced brain injury

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
In this review, agents such baicalein, troxerutin, epigallocatechin gallate, quercetin, melatonin, valproic acid, lithium, neurosteroid progesterone, as well as minocycline have been implicated as neuroprotective agents for irradiation‐induced neurological deficits. Also, agents such as glucocorticoids, methylphenidate, vitamin E, bisdemethoxycurcumin,

Synthesis and studies of flavone and bis-flavone derivatives

open access: yesSynthetic Communications, 2020
Flavonoids are widely occurring polyphenols of plant origin and well explored in the field of pharmacological activities. Recent studies showed this scaffold to be more dynamic as fluorescent probe. Very rare reports are there in literature on flavones as liquid crystals, for the first time we have synthesized and characterized flavone and bis-flavone ...
