Ethanol triggers grape gene expression leading to anthocyanin accumulation during berry ripening [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Recent studies have shown that low doses of ethanol stimulate the maturation of some fruits. The present work showed that spraying Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, with 5% ethanol at veraison enhances the anthocyanin accumulation.

Recovery of flavonoids from three-phase olive pomace by aqueous ethanol extraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A three-phase olive pomace (OP), the solid by-product originating from the production of olive oil, was investigated as a potential source of flavonoids. Flavonoids were extracted by an environmentally friendly procedure using aqueous ethanol as solvent.

Genetic analysis of the liverwort Marchantia polymorpha reveals that R2R3MYB activation of flavonoid production in response to abiotic stress is an ancient character in land plants.

open access: yesNew Phytologist, 2018
The flavonoid pathway is hypothesized to have evolved during land colonization by plants c. 450 Myr ago for protection against abiotic stresses. In angiosperms, R2R3MYB transcription factors are key for environmental regulation of flavonoid production ...

Benefit from Biomass Boiler Emissions to Increase Greenhouse CO2 Levels for Optimal Growth and Yield in Tomato, Cucumber, and Strawberry

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Using CO2‐rich polluting gases in greenhouse plant cultivation has proven to be a promising technique for stimulating plants while reducing emissions to the atmosphere. The use of an experimental biofilter proves to be effective in retaining most of the toxic particles. The alteration of physiological and metabolic parameters shows an adaptation of the

Comparative study of the biological activities of the aqueous extracts of two spontaneous plants harvested in the Algerian Sahara [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The present study investigates the insecticidal and herbicidal effects of leaf extracts from two plants were harvested in the Northern Algerian Sahara. These are Cleome arabica (Capparaceae) and Pergularia tomentosa (Asclepiadaceae). The efficacy of the extracts from the plants was evaluated by the reflux extraction method.
