ALICE potential for heavy-flavour physics [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the XVII International Workshop on Deep-Inelastic Scattering and Related Topics, 2009
The ALICE experiment, currently in the commissioning phase, will study nucleus- nucleus and proton-proton collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We review the ALICE heavy-flavour physics program and present a selection of results on the expected performance.

Sodium Alginate‐Based Submucosal Lifting Hydrogel for Endoscopic Mucosal Resection and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A biocompatible sodium alginate‐based hydrogel is developed as a next‐generation submucosal lifting agent intended for EMR and ESD. The optimized formulation exhibits a composition devoid of endotoxins, high viscosity, demonstrates reliable injectability, and ensures prolonged mucosal elevation.

Doubling down on down-type diquarks

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Effective field theory-based searches for new physics at colliders are relatively insensitive to interactions involving only right-handed down-type quarks.

Lepton-flavour-violating gluonic operators: constraints from the LHC and low energy experiments

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
Effective operators provide a model-independent description of physics beyond the standard model that is particularly useful given the absence of any signs of new physics at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Rethinking Charge Transport and Recombination in Donor‐Diluted Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Organic solar cells with 1–45% PM6 content in Y12 were studied to link structure and charge dynamics to performance. The conductivity follows a 3D percolation model without a sharp threshold. Donor dilution preserves the photogeneration yield, but limits the fill factor due to transport resistance losses.

Electrically Coded Retinomorphic Spectrophotodetector

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐powered retinomorphic pyro‐photodetector is demonstrated that avoids machine‐learning post‐processing and covers 365–940 nm. Electrostatic balancing of built‐in potential produces an electrical wavelength code, delivering <3 nm wavelength decoding accuracy with ∼46 µs response.

Reversible Hydration Tuning of Polar Order and Large Nonlinear Optical Response in a 2D van der Waals Crystal, LiInP2S6

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Hydration‐induced symmetry breaking transforms layered LiInP2S6${\rm LiInP}_2{\rm S}_6$ from a nonpolar to a chiral‐polar phase, producing a giant enhancement of non‐resonant second‐harmonic generation. The reversible tuning of polar order through molecular intercalation establishes a strategy for dynamically controlling nonlinear optical ...
