Leading directions in the SMEFT

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
Short-distance new physics at (or slightly) above the TeV scale should not excessively violate the approximate flavor symmetries of the SM in order to comply with stringent constraints from flavor-changing neutral currents.

Consequences of a U(2) flavour symmetry [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1997
While solving the supersymmetric flavour problem, a U(2) flavour symmetry might be at the origin of the pattern of fermion masses and mixings. The consequences of this hypothesis are spelled out concerning the parameters of the CKM matrix and their observability in B- and K-physics.

Strong coupling, discrete symmetry and flavour [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2010
We show how two principles - strong coupling and discrete symmetry - can work together to generate the flavour structure of the Standard Model. We propose that in the UV the full theory has a discrete flavour symmetry, typically only associated with tribimaximal mixing in the neutrino sector.

Adding Flavor to the SMEFT

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We study the flavor structure of the lepton and baryon number-conserving dimension-6 operators in the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT). Building on the work of [1], we define several well-motivated flavor symmetries and symmetry-breaking ...

Flavour and CP symmetries in the inverse seesaw

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
We consider an inverse seesaw mechanism of neutrino mass generation in which the Standard Model is extended by $$3+3$$ 3 + 3 (heavy) sterile states, and endowed with a flavour symmetry $$G_f$$ G f , $$G_f=\Delta (3 \, n^2)$$ G f = Δ ( 3 n 2 ) or $$G_f ...

S3-flavour symmetry as realized in lepton flavour violating processes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 2008
A variety of lepton flavour violating effects related to the recent discovery of neutrino oscillations and mixings is here systematically discussed in terms of an S_3-flavour permutational symmetry. After a brief review of some relevant results on lepton masses and mixings, that had been derived in the framework of a Minimal S_3-Invariant Extension of ...

Predictive flavour symmetries of the neutrino mass matrix [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Here we propose an $A_4$ flavour symmetry model which implies a lower bound on the neutrinoless double beta decay rate, corresponding to an effective mass parameter $M_{ee} \gsim 0.03$ eV, and a direct correlation between the expected magnitude of CP ...

Nonabelian Global Chiral Symmetry Realisation in the Two-Dimensional N Flavour Massless Schwinger Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The nonabelian global chiral symmetries of the two-dimensional N flavour massless Schwinger model are realised through bosonisation and a vertex operator construction.Comment: To appear in the Proceedings of the Fourth International Workshop on ...
