Integration of circadian and hypoxia signaling via non‐canonical heterodimerization

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CLOCK, BMAL1, and HIFs are basic helix‐loop‐helix and Per‐Arnt‐Sim domain (bHLH‐PAS) proteins, which function as transcription factors. bHLH‐PAS proteins are designated in two classes. Many class I proteins are regulated by environmental signals via their PAS domains, but such signals have not been identified for all.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Marital Cohesion and Perceived Stress in Parents of Children with Special Educational Needs: A Study of the Impact on Couple Dynamics

open access: yesChildren
Background/Objectives: The presence of a child with special educational needs (SENs) necessitates that both the child and their family engage in adaptive processes and develop resilience in response to the developmental challenges that arise following an

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Positive mental imagery, emotion regulation and depressive symptoms in individuals with alcohol use disorder

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry
IntroductionsEmotion regulation, depressive symptoms and mental imagery have both been linked to alcohol use disorder (AUD). However, the association between these factors have not been investigated within a group of individuals with AUD.ObjectivesThe ...

Telework in the Federal Government: The Overview Memo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Flexible Work Arrangements (FWAs) alter the time and/or place that employees work on a regular basis in a manner that is manageable and predictable for both employees and employers.1 Telework, also called telecommuting, refers to an FWA that enables an ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Active assessment of fitness and performance in a general population

open access: yesFrontiers in Sports and Active Living
Much of the current worldwide morbidity results largely from unhealthy diet, inactivity, and inadequate access to health resources. Improving body composition, strength, endurance, and cardiorespiratory fitness is associated with increased longevity and ...
