Flexible device for vertebral body replacement

Journal of Biomedical Engineering, 1989
A novel vertebral prosthesis is presented. The prosthesis was developed for surgical procedures requiring the resection of a complete vertebral body and the adjacent intervertebral discs, the design objective being to develop a flexible implant that would be robust enough to withstand the in vivo stress environment of the human spine.

Flexible Bodies

2020
Abstract Flexible Bodies charts the emergence of British South Asian dance as a distinctive dance genre. Analyzing dance works, dance films, rehearsals, workshops, and touring alongside immigration policy, arts funding initiatives, citizenship discourse, and global economic conditions, author Anusha Kedhar traces shifts in British South ...

Non-Intrusive Computation of Rigid-Body/Flexible-Body Coupling Integrals

2018 Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization Conference, 2018
The coupled equations of motion of an unrestrained flexible body when derived using multibody dynamics or mean axes formulation consist of three mass coupling integrals, namely, the first-order and...

The dynamics of flexible bodies

International Journal of Engineering Science, 1974
Abstract The motion of a flexible body undergoing arbitrarily large rotations with respect to an inertial frame is split into a mean rigid body motion, defining a dynamical reference frame, and a relative motion taking into account the deformations.

Transient analysis of flexible multi-body systems. Part I: Dynamics of flexible bodies

Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1986
The formulation for the dynamic analysis of undamped linear structural systems using the finite element method results in two element matrices; the mass and stiffness matrices, that describe the element inertia and stiffness properties. However, these matrices are not sufficient to describe the dynamics of structures that undergo large rigid-body ...

Dynamics of a flexible body in orbit

Astrodynamics Conferece, 1978
The equations of motion of an arbitrary flexible body in orbit are derived. The model includes the effects of gravity with all its higher harmonics. As a specific example, the motion of a long, slender, uniform beam in circular orbit is modeled. The example considers the inplane motion of the beam in orbit.

Flexible relaxation of rigid‐body docking solutions

Proteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, 2007
AbstractMolecular Dynamics (MD) simulations have been performed on a set of rigid‐body docking poses, carried out over 25 protein–protein complexes. The results show that fully flexible relaxation increases the fraction of native contacts (NC) by up to 70% for certain docking poses.

The “Body Mass Index” of Flexible Ureteroscopes

Journal of Endourology, 2017
To assess the "body mass index" (BMI) (weight and length) of 12 flexible ureteroscopes (digital and fiber optic) along with the light cables and camera heads, to make the best use of our instruments.Twelve different brand-new flexible ureteroscopes from four different manufacturers, along with eight camera heads and three light cables were evaluated ...

Metabolic flexibility differs by body composition in adults

Clinical Nutrition ESPEN, 2021
With the rise of global cardiometabolic diseases, it is important to investigate risk factors such as obesity. Metabolic flexibility, the ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis following an acute challenge, can reflect cardiometabolic health. We investigated the association between body composition and the metabolic flexibility following meal ...
