Collective photothermal bending of flexible organic crystals modified with MXene-polymer multilayers as optical waveguide arrays

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The performance of any engineering material is naturally limited by its structure, and while each material suffers from one or multiple shortcomings when considered for a particular application, these can be potentially circumvented by hybridization with

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Piezoelectric Sensing of Rigid-Flexible Coupled Free-Edge Rectangular Plates

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering
With the rapid development of space technology, rigid-flexible coupling systems are widely used in aerospace structures. Attitude-vibration coupling control requires a deep understanding of the rigid-flexible coupling dynamics of these systems.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Numerical analysis of unsteady forces in a pump-jet propulsor due to dynamic tip-clearance changes

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
ObjectiveThis study aims to investigate the effects of dynamic variations in rotor tip-clearance on the unsteady forces of a pump-jet propulsor, while analyzing the role of a flexible isolation system in influencing the excitation characteristics of the ...

Nonlinear Dynamic Behavior of a Flexible Structure to Combined External Acoustic and Parametric Excitation

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2006
Flexible structures are frequently subjected to multiple inputs when in the field environment. The accurate determination of the system dynamic response to multiple inputs depends on how much information is available from the excitation sources that act ...

Experimental Study on Streamwise Vortex-Induced Vibration of a Flexible, Slender Cylinder

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Laboratory tests on streamwise vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of a flexible, slender cylinder were carried out in a towing tank. A cylinder model, 20 mm in diameter and 3.91 m in length, was towed horizontally to generate a uniform profile of relative ...
